... car lanes that go in, not out. Eeeek. Our phones have not been working properly over here - well data usage is fine, as are text messages, but its been hit and miss to actually call British phone numbers. In a fit of desperation I ask Helen to try and call Martin to get the last piece of information we need to get onto the boat. Thankfully, the call connects and Martin answers - "oh yes," he says, "I did forget to tell you that". WTF! Pretty important piece of information to ...

That evening we had dinner at The Empire Restaurant, which is in the basement of our hotel, and so have our own private entrance from hotel, which made us feel very special. The town's a bit run-down and not a lot going on as far as I could tell, but it does has some charming spots. One of them is the 13th century Watch Tower; the other is the Hotel de Ville.

... to see the ocean, so there are a lot of empty undeveloped lots here for the time being. There is not a whole lot in Ramsgate for tourist purposes (especially in winter), but we had to say goodbye to Claire’s aunt Sue and her Uncle Steve. It was nice to meet them. We went out for a drink at the Mariner bar. I wanted to go there because my hometown baseball team is the Seattle Mariner’s!

... persons, but it was in French, so I figured I could play dumb if anyone stopped me.

There were about 8 bunkers all a short walk from where I left my bike, and I got a free tour of some bunkers that don't get many tourists from what I imagine. I guess the whole area was now a duck hunting club, which I noticed after walking around some ponds with some plastic mallards tethered rather forlornly. At least it isn't hunting season! If had some ...
