Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia goontack... I’d avoided YHAs as much as possible, as they tend to be backpacker factories, void of character and have a stale atmosphere, but this one was quite good. It had the look of an old English country house, with a large lounge to suit, complete with several leather chairs! The next day, I walked around the town centre, and took a walk to Nobbys Lighthouse, which was about half an hour away from the hostel along a peninsular beach ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia deixelhirsch... sweaty we was lol. The actual work wasn't too bad, just the unbearable heat made it a lot worse. We also had to be breathalised every morning before work, so we couldnt even go back and enjoy a few beers at the end of the day lol. When friday came, we were so glad! Time to do some drinking! lol. We moved onto our next stop, Newcastle, and checked into our hostel. The first thing we did was check ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia essexboysMy working visa expired in November. Well, the working part anyway. I was only allowed to work for one employer for up to six months. Two days before that six months was up, I still hadn't received my new visa. They had, however, sent a "supplemental form" for me to fill out. Apparently they reserve these for the "special" cases. The only other instances of this form I could find on-line were almost all attached to some guy named "Ahmed" or "Osama", or to guys also asking "if ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia fuzzyhatjon... and you got say it in the right tone too. I m getting the hang of it you wait till when i get back although i might be talking Aussie English you wont understand me, its a whole different language. The Aussies love the shade and air conditioning so its freezing inside and they don t BBQ every night however i have had 3 BBQs in the short time that i have been in Newcastle and they have been yummy. I have really enjoyed reading ...
Newcastle, Australia michellemari... Anyhow everyone still misses her. Amy and I had a biig decision to make. Probably one that everyone with a year visa in Oz has to make. Do you want to stay? Pete offered me sponsership as had Amy by Amnesty International. We thought about it for a bit and decided against it. We just want to keep travelling and not get stuck in one place. Still far too much to see. Amy has since packed her job in and is now enjoying the Ozzy life more (having time to enjoy the beach) as she ...
Manly, Seal Rocks and the Snowy Mountains, Australia hudsondino... were pretty drunk even when we did a breath test and it came up that Frances had 0.00 alcohol in her system... hmmmm. Myself, Brendan, Frances and Angela decided to get some food back at the hostel and buy some goon to top the day off. After some goon myself and Frances headed off to Newcastle beach to relax on the sand and watch the sun go down, it was a really nice evening that topped off a superb day! Soon it was dark and getting a bit chilly so we went back to the ...
Newcastle, Australia hornets222... for this leg of the trip, our Lonely Planet guidebook is invaluable because it not only points out routes that we can take but also points of interest along the way that we would definitely miss otherwise. Today the book told us about a lovely, small, coastal town called Terrigal, which was a little out of our way but certainly well worth us visiting. We had the chance to sit next to a small, sandy beach, eating our sandwiches in the hot sunshine. We did have to ...
Newcastle, Australia dandewey1974... how the wines are fermented in their barrels (PIC). Fresh with our new found knowledge of the win industry we moved onto the Champagne house and chocolate shop (coincidentally the venue of Richard & De's wedding a couple of years ago). The chocolate shop was a bit too expensive for our tastes but a few interesting samples offered us a taste of Chilli chocolate (powerful after-kick), and a chocolate coffee-bean which landed Verdi in trouble. Andrew ...
