My bags are officially packed. And for this trip, that's saying something. For those of you who are a bit outside the Butts family loop, my family is moving out of the house we've lived in for 25+ years. I graduated from Ithaca College in May and intended to get a job for the summer before taking this trip. When the house sold a few days after graduation my job hunt came to an abrupt halt and I turned my focus ...
Andover, New York, United States akb2icWe left to drive to Debbie B's house to meet up. I was transporting her daughter and boyfriend and our stuff was going in their panel van. Everyone else was leaving from their own homes. One group was driving the entire way on Sunday. It wasabout a 5 hour and 30 minute drive to Bath from home. We stopped in Clark's Summit, PA for lunch. It rained off and ...
Bath, New York, United States njbeaglemom... about the gourmet meals that Linda cooks, and interesting facts about the area here. It's been so much fun just to talk with the two of them. But then our fellow guests have been great. I bonded right off with Elyse and her dog Darby. She seems to share my offbeat sense of humor and I like her a lot. We were the only ones here yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed joking with her over breakfast. She ate late today ...
Naples, New York, United States basykes... But finally we were all clean and it was nearly noon, so we took off to explore. We stopped first a little cemetery and lake overlook we'd passed on the way in and took some photos. We finally decided to try and find Bully Hill. We drove and drove and drove through beautiful countryside and as the hour was getting late we actually found the sign for that ...
Naples, New York, United States basykesWhen Walt told me that we were near the place where Jello was invented and that there was a museum...well...really! How could we not go there? Sometimes we just don't think about these things that we've known all our lives. Whoever got the idea for Jello? Well, I'm about to tell you. In 1897, a Leroy (name of the town) carpenter named Pearle Wait was making laxatives and cough ...

Amherst, New York, United States maryjnelneArrived in Toronto today, took about an hour and a half drive from Niagara Falls. The drive was a little bit hairy, we drove (or rather Lee drove) from Niagara Falls via the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) which is more or less like the M1 but a lot bigger. Highlight of the trip was seeing a sign for Islington Avenue. Very childish but I had to take a picture. :) We arrived at the hostel and checked in after parking the car in a car park next ...
Toronto, Ontario, Canada lisartwFinally! I am back on North American soil! Despite being a little bummed about cutting my trip super short, I am so excited to be coming home. I cannot tell you how excited I am to sleep in my own bed. I had a layover here in Toronto where I was patted down, my bag emptied and ...
Toronto, Canada trippinwithleisTesting 1,2,3. Sibilance, Sibilance. Excuse me. I was just putting in the first message prior to our graduation from UVM in Burlington on Sunday. Woo. Livonia, New York, United States uvanmathiasStayed at the Crowne Plaza at the top of the hill. Not much to do around town but hang out. Some nice stores on the main strip. The best restaurant is a bit off the main strip and is a Japanese restaurant near the base of the hotel. Nearby, check out out Tail O' Pup BBQ in between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Some random facts: Lake Placid isn't on Lake Placid...it is on Mirror Lake Nearby, Saranac Lake (where we stayed years ago), is actually on Flower Lake
