... Then we happened upon "Art on the River" - a whole area filled with a wide variety of artists. We ate lunch at "Clingman's Cafe" and sat outside on a sunny patio - lovely! We spent the rest of the day exploring the artists' studios and meeting the artists. We returned home for a bit of down time and then a pot luck dinner with Jim and Sue in our NEW HOME. We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell. We wanted to go to the top of the highest point in the eastern states ( Mt. Mitchell 6647ft high). Upon ...

Year 2, Day 113 - Today Nick and I visited the town of Henderson, NC. This town sits among the Blue Ridge Mountains at 2,200 feet above sea level. It is a picturesque and quaint town with lots of diversity. I understand that as far back as 100 years ago, people favored this area for retirement (instead of Florida), because it offered all 4 seasons, along with temperate winters.

A special shout-out and a big "thank you" to ...

... hadn’t yet seen. Online Elon had a better “feel” to me than Wake Forest and as it was so close, the decision was made.

Elon is a beautifully manicured campus with vast grassy areas and newer-ish brick buildings with huge white columns. Some of those buildings house state of the art media studios, science equipment, etc. There are several variations of living situations for the students and most of the ...
