Just a quick stop over in Hay for the night. Hay seems to be quite a farming town with alot of sheep shearing.
It was a very hot day in Hay so it was a great relief to see a nice clean cool pool in Hay Caravan Park. We had a quick dip before having a ...
Hay, New South Wales, Australia jamiesonfamilyRest day - Trevor 'Butticus' and Alex cooked us breaky this morning - bacon, eggs, omelettes and pancakes - fantastic!

Got the washing out and then oiled the chain and cleaned the bike. Noticed my rear tire had some nasty gashes in it - so put a new one on for our last week.

Now doing the blog and then will go for a little nap before heading off for tea at the Jolly Jumbuck Bistro.

Have done 3,268kms so far - 785kms to go in 7 days riding!<br ...
Hay, New South Wales, Australia gatzby... cool and cloudy days that we have had for many of the previous days.

All of us got sore backsides and were pooped by the time we got in at about 3.45pm. At one point, the food roadies (Robyn, Robert and Margaret) were quite worried as we took so long to get to the 100km mark for lunch - we were down to about 17 to 18kms/hour at that point and we had to stop more regularly for bum breaks and 'Gaza' stops (wee stops!).

We were all very pleased to get to Hay ...
Hay, New South Wales, Australia gatzby... designed to be a stopover point for travelers, but I failed to notice anything else of interest in the town. Having arrived in Sydney, I discussed with the friend I was staying with the delights of not having had a cold all year, which I considered to be quite amazing, since I visit so many schools, which are usually a melting pot of disease. It seems I spoke too soon, as I woke up the following morning with a horrific bout of the flu.
Hay, New South Wales, Australia wherever... she took us down to see her horses that were stabled there. She races in Enduro events so the horses are bred to run in 24-48 hour events. Stephanie asked if we could help swim one of the horses so I helped out with the boys helping also by wiping the horse down and then feeding the horses and mucking out the stables. The rain eventually came but we were nice and dry in the van and played Uno and Skipbo (of which I ...
Hay, Australia georgeescape... the ends of the earth, but for the remnants of grass still remaining. It was just so flat with no other vehicles for miles... Once in Hay there were handy signs to a free camping site by the river which we followed, and were surprised to find other campers there. Whether this was a regular occurance or not, was unknown, as this was a special night! It ...
Hay, Australia sianethAs I am writing this on Sunday, I really can't remember much about what we may have done last Wednesday. We had obviously completed all there was to see in Hay. I do remember we went to the library and I took 1.5 hours to load up the blog, do my emails and research caravan parks in Deniliquin. I also visited the Betta Electrical place again to find out about either getting a new battery for the phone, or a new ...
Hay, Australia newtripper... going over the exhibits which were very interesting and extremely well displayed - obviously did no have to depend on part time volunteers to build and set up this one, which was only completed in 2002. Architect designed and rivaling the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach in concept and design (but not size), it is really excellent, and to find this facility in a town the size of Hay was somewhat surprising. We paused for a cup of coffee in the caf ...
Hay, Australia newtripper... or perhaps it was artist's license, but it appears that the numbers on the map, and the actuality don't quite match up in a number of instances. Now, navigation is a source of yelling between Ted and I at the best of times, so this map does not help one bit. We visited the Restored Cobb and Co Coach. We also did the shopping,, visited the Newsagents, the Visitor's center and found some internet computers in the library. Found a ...
Hay, Australia newtripper... all the way to Adelaide (Wagga, Narrandera, Hay, Balranald, Mildura, Renmark, Gawler). I took a rest break for a few minutes about 40km from Hay. I have mentioned before that I get stressed moving on - due to 2 factors really - have I chosen the right caravan park? and will I be able to get the van into the site? A bit silly really because you don't see inside any of the other parks in the town so you never know whether you have chosen the right one ...
