... presence as well, I have never seen such a dense population of them so close to the shoreline, it is quite beautiful. There are numerous fishing villages dotted along the coast where every morning they roll out their nets on the beach and go to work, at night they try to sell you marijuana, usually next to the Mosque, go Allah. We are staying next to a Mosque, which we usually try to avoid due to the five prayer calls daily, quite an annoyance, but here they are pretty short. The ...
Trivandrum, Kerala, India mericanomad... mosquitos so i now have repellant, bug killer spray, coils and a mozzie net, we won the battle but not the war when more arrived later..it's not the best thing sleeping under a net either and you can still hear them! Anyway we then went to a headphone rave 'silent party' was loads of fun, and a bit weird taking off headphones to see people whirling around and clapping and whooping in silence! Bit like when they make a film and then add the music after ...
Varkala, Kerala, India katyannwilkinso... we had gotten on an earlier bus. Because that makes sense right? Even though there was no bus to trivandrum between 1 30 and 2...it makes sense that we got on a bus..without him..and withoutmy bag. Absolutely. And the thing is the bus would've passed Leila at the stop and you'd think he would've been looking out the window for her. ARGH. Needless to say..I was a little displeased and kind of shocked at the pure selfishness and disregard. I mean here we were worried he was ...
Varkala, Kerala, India maedchen...
Kanyakumari, India laurinaway... of the Travancore kings and boasts of 127 rooms spread across a 6.5 acres complex. A myriad of inner courtyards and underground passages fill the compound which is a repository of cultural treasures that include 17th and 18th century murals, exquisite woodwork on the ceiling and walls, the famed black and red shiny floors made up of a unique mix of jaggery, lime, burnt coconut, egg white, charcoal and sand from the ...
Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India p.rajesh... look. Our near death experience behind us we then boarded a plane feeling quite safe for our 1 hour air-ride from Bangalore to Trivadrum. It was dark by the time we landed and hopped in another car to take us the 50 km to Varkala. Being in a car at night is even more of an adventure. It's a bit gripping to see lights come blazing head-on and duck away just at the last moment. We woke up and felt the moisture ...
Varkala, India boatubia... unsteady : 500 rupees bills should be brown, but frequently they are blue ( the exact color of 100 rupees bill), so that you think you gave somebody a 500 when in fact it was only a 100 ... Bills are also cut unevenly. In a word, Indian bills look like Monopoly money. you therefore reahc for another 500 bill in exchange for the 100 bill that the lovely lady is holding up for you. Naturally, you ...
Trivandrum, India mike-christelleHello from beautiful Kerala and Varkala Beach in particular. To say we were looking forward to getting to this particular place in India is an understatement. It had been some time since we'd been able to throw off the clothes and immerse ourselves in the heavenly salt water of Mother Earth's ocean. To be able to do it in such an exotic locale was an immense bonus. That being said we did have some ...
Varkala, India natandkat... the spectacle that never ceased to amaze me - the fire-flies that floated around the path and amongst the coconut trees - I'd never seen these before. The weather as I mentioned previously was superb, the pool at the hotel a welcome bonus. The cold-coffee taken every morning at the best restaurant in town 'Fusion' was a perfect start to the day, the view from the shaded rooftop terrace - the sea and it's never ending procession of fishing boats. Oh and the football was pretty good as well!
Kovalam, India rgw...... is also worth a visit. C)Shanghumugham Beach: This is an excellent long stretch of beach very close to the city centre. In spite of ever increasing tourism this stretch of sea still retains a virgin appeal and is an ideal spot to watch the sun colorfully disappear into the sea in the evenings. Accommodation:- This city has many options to suit all budgets. The following stands out:- a)Mascot Hotel- (Tel 0471 2318990 and tariff -Rs 2400 to 5000) is housed in a colonial building at the ...
