... a lot of touts selling their trinkets and random items. The beach is also exposed to the Laccadive sea so waves and rips are present, making it feel more like home. For those that have been, I would compare it to Broome beach, especially at sunset. ... choice of a varied menu (we had a week of being a bit fed up with only curry) and we loved having proper coffee. The food is quite pricy though and we found ourselves once again going to restaurants that the kids liked (i.e. with space to run around) rather than the restaurants that offered the best food. The best thing about restaurants in Varkala though is the view over the sea - you can see so far that it feels like you can almost see the horizon curving.
