Bathurst 1000

... Mexican food in Chile, it was a bad idea to have Chinese food in Bathurst.

On Saturday I worked at the Chase Tent as a runner helping to support the supervisor and assist where needed. The Chase is where the cars would race down the mountain before the final turn to the finish line. Then on Sunday, I was again at the Pit roof where I got to see the finish of the final race from above.

Monday I began to help clean up after a night of heavy partying with co-workers ...

Over for another year

... and definitely not a place for a lady or a family. That has changed!! great place to be now, just the same as down the bottom, the police have done a fantastic job. Every car and bus was searched going up the mountain by police and by sniffer dogs, no longer a place up there for anti social behaviour!! Without a doubt the best motor racing event in the country!! Homebush wont hold a candle to it!

Zambia , stocked with much-needed youth-friendly information and leaflets printed in the local language, giving approximately 450 students access to crucial health information. $590 SPW volunteers can enable a women's group to set up their own small income-generating project, such as a pig farm or craft project, giving the community essential income as well as providing financial security and empowerment for ...

Bathurst

... This lesson in Australian road directions lost us well over two hours and it was now too late to move any further northwards. We drove into the city of Bathurst and found a motel, after checking that it had decent heating! Our analysis of the afternoon's adventure was that we don't accept 'an alternative route' but stay with a (hopefully) signposted road and also that the Aussie way is, that on other minor ...

Road to the Blue Mountains

... 4 bedrooms, 11 beds and tons of room. This is rather large for one night but it was all they had left. We dragged the suitcases in and after a chat with Gary, our host we ran to the surprise of the day. This is where Ned Kelly lived and died. I bet you didn't know that. In the courthouse was a nice young man who gave us all concession tickets and a long lecture on Ned Kelly. I have to say I now know 100% more about Ned than I ...

... from the horizontal in the front car), it was a 415m descent it was great fun. At the bottom you could see across to the Katoomba Falls. We then headed back up to the top of the cliff on the cableway which offered spectacular views across Jamison Valley. Next stop was Govetts Leap lookout from here you look out across Govetts and Grose valleys, and can also see 608m drop waterfall. We then headed on towards ...

Blue Mountains Part 2

... wormhole. None of this mattered though, because after a brief discussion on the apparent innumeracy of Australian signmakers we were introduced to what can loosely be termed as 'a change in the weather'. Smug in the knowledge we had packed for all weather conditions, we donned our (almost) matching jackets, picked up the pace and headed on to the Three Sisters. Being somewhat cynical I steeled myself in preparation of the tourist trap ...

Sydney via the Blue Mountains

... day there was sunny and we got to see lots, including the famous three sisters and we also got to do some short walks. But our second day was rainy and ended up being an all out storm by the night time. This was the coldest night we had in Oz we were fighting over the blanket all night in the back of the car - see the locals are always right over here. This was our last night with Pammy - very sad occasion for all ...

Walking off some of that christmas indulgence!

The Blue Mountains are just 130hr NW of Sydney. The plan was to rent a car and spend a couple of days exploring the Blue Mountains at a leisurely pace. Things don't always run to plan! Firstly we couldn't get a car and secondly our accomodation booking miraculously disappeared. So we end up on yet another bus trip! We have a quick stop off on route to have ...

Into the Blue

Two hour train journey, for Dad to get his first taste of Dorm life at the YHA. I liked it, huge improvement on the scabby Sydney place - However upon arrival we were informed that due to bush fires, the National Park was closed.. Oh dear - what to do now! We ignored the advice and headed to the hills! Clifftop walk was fun, Dad ...
