        ... on the table. The waitress took care of us, so we never had to push buttons to order food, but if we were quick enough, I'm sure we could have just ordered on the screen. There were games, so of course, we played a game on it, ate our meal and then could pay on it and it print out a receipt. Very clever! I guess it's convenient. What's interesting is that I notice how we are often handed our bill during the meal rather than at the end. I was finishing-off my pasta and ...

        ... columns and flowstone formations (‘frozen’ waterfalls) some still growing with calcite crystals forming with each drop of water. Stunning!

        Wednesday morning was allocated to putting together the more detailed plan for our trip south. It looks as though most of the permissions for the first part can be done ourselves, so we will try that and see how we get on!

        Today we left Gatlinburg TN and headed to Cumberland Gap via Cumberland parkway. Went to Virginia through the Cumberland tunnel into Cumberland Gap State Park went to highest pinnacle.         ... explained that Mammoth Cave was not only explored by Native Americans 5,000 years ago, but it was used as a Saltpeter mine for the War of 1812 and later for Gypsum.  Our first stop was at the remains of the old saltpeter mine.  Natives Americans explored 12 miles of the cave with only torches made from bunches of sticks to guide them.  To date, over 400 miles have been explored and mapped and they find more every year.
