Sandburg was apparently oriented not to material possessions but entirely to intellectual pursuits, still displayed as his mess of books and periodicals around which the rest of his life was centered. Sandburg’s wife Lillian was world champion goat breeder and established a goat dairy on the farm, an operation that is still a working part of the site. Greenville reminds me of NOVA in that it is a more developed area and a very similar culture. There is also some kick butt climbing and backpacking nearby which I will be experiencing here shortly.

This was to be my last day in North Carolina and my final opporetunity to spend time with by old school buddy, partner in music and good friend Steve 'Hacksaw' Haynes.

Teresa, Steve's care lady is a wounderful person, not only does she go the extra mile looking after Steve, caring and cooking for him she also looked after me. On two occasions she made me one of notorious omelettes filled with cheese, fried onions and ham, ...

... Oak Island seemed to take forever. We finally made it to the beach house around midnight. My sister, Beth Ann, arrived several hours before us, and my cousin Joe got here right before us. He's on a photo gathering trip and will be staying for several days or however long he wants, or until we get sick of him. Whichever comes first.

Too tired to do anything else, we unpacked and hit the sack.
