Who'd have thought that a crossroads town in Nevada would roll up the sidewalks at 10 pm?!
Woke up to this view out my window, on the east side of Elko.
... These mountains are known as the Alps of Nevada and it is clear to see why. The highlight of the day was when we were visited by the resident beaver in the campground who was enjoying a dinner of aspen leaves in the creek next to our campsite, not ten feet from us - what a treat!

The Silver Queen Saloon and Hotel is an active hotel. Restored to its original Victorian splendor of the 1880’s. Located in the bar is the ‘Silver Queen’ herself. The 15 foot Belle is adorned in a gown made with 3000 silver dollars. The skirt is 8 ft. wind and a belt encircling her trim waist contains 28-twenty dollar gold pieces.
