The tour director told us that we need not worry about armed robbery or other violent crimes as they are almost nonexistent due to strict gun laws with mandatory sentencing for violations.     But many many happy memories.

    It was sad to leave our friends @ Germantown, near Washington. Once again, we are reminded how generous people are with their time and hospitality.

    Our journey will now take us in a north-westerley direction with our eventual goal being the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming before the winter sets in.

    On the way we will meet up with some other friends who we last saw in 2003 in Chad's home ...

    Landed in Alaska . Staying at Hotel Captain Cook. Plane ride highlights included view of Canada Rockies, 4 bags of airline pretzels with garlic powder, and a wonderful book I read "Walk in the Woods" by Bryson about the Appalachian Trail. I bought the book in Chicago and read the book in 5 hours and only then remembered that Ma Bell gave me the book in 1997 . Now I can go back and read all my old books and think they are ...

    Not much happened today, slept in, ate, drove around Pittsburgh, shopped & ate again, this time we went to Denny's Diner.  They burger was very good.  Then we shopped again then headed back to hotel.  Just relaxing now.    Will be heading  off to Washington DC early tomorrow ...

    Today we drove to Beaver Falls where Kev was born. It was a really lovely little town. It has roughly 9000 people living there. The houses are very quaint and different to what we see in Australia. We stayed and looked around and found two of the three places where Kev lived and also houses that his parents lived in before he came along.
