Took the road less travelled for our first day. Headed west on the I-290 W or Dwight Eisenhower Expressway for a bit before it was the US20 W. When we could we were off onto the IL 72W which was a much smaller road with much less traffic that went through suburbs and small towns.

We got up and around and headed to the airport. It was a typical cool, clear mountain desert morning. In the car, Alex made an unusual discovery - there were no buttons to drive the windows up and down. he couldn't figure out how to "roll down his windows" until we explained to him what the crank was for. For the first time in his life, he saw a car with a crank ...

... look around downtown. It's amazing the things you can learn, even after 16 years of living somewhere. We never knew that it was a Holy Week tradition to go to seven "monuments" (Catholic Churches) and recite prayers. In Bogota, because most people have the day off on Good Friday, that is when they do this. We found ourselves in crowds of tens of thousands of people walking from church to church to read certain prayers at each one!

The next day, and ...
