... further yesterday than we have been traveling in a day, so we got here late last night. We had planned on riding our bikes down the Virginia Creeper Trail but decided this morning that we were going to hang around the campground and relax today. It has been a beautiful day here with nice warm breezy weather. We plan on making it home sometime next week.

... nearest supermarket in search of dinner. Once again I was confronted by the phenomonal amount of quick and easy and diabolically unhealthy food there is on offer here. We decided on hamburgers . Not the healthiest, but not as bad as many things on offer. Heading out of the supermarket we were greeted by girl scouts selling cookies. Now, it's only right if you're in america that you must buy girl scout cookies when you have the opportunity.... though do be aware ...

... on the highway he was fine, I was the one who now had to deal with wind chill. Funny no bikers out today. Saw 2 yesterday with a lot of gear. Around Bristol I went into a VA welcome center and got coupon books and advice. Decided I had enough stamina to get to Wytheville and just 30 miles outside, I noticed the snow. Wonderful. Temp dropped as the cloud cover became pronounced. May be a later start tomorrow too since the high here will be 39. But at least I am 188 miles closer today.

We left New Jersey around 8:30 am and arrived at Floyd's Country Store around 6.00 pm. We stopped here because it is on Virginia's Crooked Road. After a hair wash over a bowl with a kettle of hot water (no showers in Parkway campgrounds) we were on the road for just after 9am, after politely declining the invitation to join other campers in an open-air church service in the campground.

... in the movie. I had a four course meal for dinner included in my room rate, so i had soup and salad and ricotta and spinach shells, and the ultimate chocolate cake. I even saw a wedding there as i was sitting reading. So that just shows how lovely a place it was and how fans of the movie still do come back to this place and relive it for themselves.
