    ... and a yummy Sangria cocktail for me!! And to top it all off, we had a very special surprise. They had apple donuts on the menu!! I have never seen them on a menu, so I figured mum found a way to spend part of our holiday with us. They were obviously no where near as good as hers but still, was really nice. Afterwards we found this awesome homemade cupcake shop so bought something yummy to eat for the next day and then grabbed the bus home to bed. Such an amazing first day!! ...

    ... the most obvious of which is cold, hard winters in the Northern 2/3 of the country.

    My memory has strengths and weaknesses, and I regularly cop criticism for remembering the wrong things. One of the things I do remember, however, is that I left Canada for Australia 30+ years ago mainly to escape the winters (and for Philippa!).

    I had forgotten how much a cold winter impacts life. Clothes, cars, homes, lifestyle, sicknesses, moods ... ...

    ... was a perfect place to watch the game because Nicole and Mark...especially Mark...are huge FSU fans. It was great. We brought the van to a few different shops trying to figure out why it was stalling again but no luck. We figured we'd give it another go and try to make it up to Dallas where Jacob's step-dad, Keith, was working and temporarily living.


    We made it to Waco before we broke down. Elm Mott to be exact. Waco is still about 2 hours outside of Dallas...and ...

    ... dropped to their knees and started singing it was hilarious! I think I'm still a little shocked at the whole thing ha ha!

    We made the 45 minute trek back to Santa Monica where our driver picked us back up about 7:45pm.. it was definitely another big day.

    Back at the apartment now, we're all packed up and ready to head off to Anaheim tomorrow.. that only means one thing.... DISNEYLAND!!!!!

    So today was a day of doing a load of washing and drying. Then it was off to Target and off to ROSS which is a kinda like trade secret where then have lots of different items from handbags to clothing to suitcases to shoes etc. Of course we both brought more stuff to try and bring home with us.
