    ... He was very kind and took pictures with several people. It was pretty cloudy going over the Rockies but a few pictures turned out interesting. Enjoy!     Today is the transit day from Montreal to Seattle via Vancouver. Had a good nights sleep only woke a few times but back to sleep in a lovely soft cuddly mattress with a goose down feather doona, the hotel room was lovely a corner room facing the city streets, on the 7th floor.     ... area is a little bit scary, lots of drunk people, homeless people and a park area with a very strong smell of marijuana. Despite appearances the area is relatively safe (or appears so) with lots of people walking through, visiting restaurants and enjoying the warmth of the late September heat wave. We found a Thai restaurant and had a quick dinner before heading back to the hostel to chill out.

    We woke to another beautiful but chilly morning on the Ottawa River. We moved from the overnight dock to the "Blue Line" at the Carillon Lock to get in line for locking through. Since it was such a beautiful weekend, boats were beginning to arrive to lock through.
