    A Very Pleasant Place

    from

Hotel was better than I expected. Extremely clean inside and out -- pool was very nice and staff was extremely friendly and helpful when we needed directions and other info. Would definitely go again!!! Just a short drive to the beach, could walk if you wanted to but we were afraid to brave the busy traffic.

Way over priced for distance to the beach

    from

This hotel is too far from the beach. You have to cross 4 lanes of BUSY traffic then walk thru the state park. If you drive it is $4 to park. We had a balcony room and yes I could see the water but I could also see the tractor and equipment the park uses. It was so noisy from all the traffic that you really couldn't enjoy it. The breakfast was very basic and the pool was nothing special. You can do much better for the money in the Destin area

    Great place to stay

    from

As other reviewers have posted this is a great hotel to stay at. It is new and all rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. The location is perfect and there are many places to shop and eat close by. The room was so comfortable we stayed in two nights and just ate in the room. If you are in the area be sure to go bike riding on the 30A bike path and visit the beautiful communities in the area such as Seaside and Watercolor. If we ever go back to Destin we will definitely stay at this hotel again.

    Fantastic! Will stay again!

    from

We loved this place! We got a suite (400) with a large balcony overlooking the ocean. It's across a busy street from Henderson State Park. The two pools were wonderful and clean. The indoor one is heated and located beside the well equipped fitness center. The whole place was just immaculate and very well decorated. The staff was extremely friendly, and the deluxe breakfast was far better than those continental breakfasts of stale bagels and watered down orange juice served at most hotels. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that it's a bit tricky to pull into the drive when returning from the beach because of the location of the redlight and the grassy median blocking the way, but hey, that's not their fault, right? We would definately recommend this hotel to our fellow travellers and will certainly stay here again.

    Great Place to stay!

    from

Very clean, nice room and decor. Good breakfast, walking distance to the most beautiful beach. Lots of great places to eat close by. Our family had a great time!

    Absolutely Terrific!!!

    from

Stayed here for 9 nights in July & will be back next July!!!! This Comfort Inn is absolutely terrific!!! Rooms were great, staff was extraordinarily friendly and extremely accommodating, the continental breakfast went way beyond the normal, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee. It is not oceanside, but is located directly across the street from the Henderson State Park where you will find an awesome beach. Has an indoor heated pool and outside pool. Exercise room, although I was too lazy to use it, LOL. I will stay at this hotel again and again and again.

    The Comfort was comfortable!

    from

We loved this hotel. Very clean rooms. Big bathroom. Pool was also very clean - not one bug or speck of dirt in it. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Free breakfast had many choices. The only drawback was that it was not oceanfront to walk to beach. I would go back again.

    Nicer hotel than we expected!

    from

We stayed there on Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is MUCH nicer than I had expected and the staff was friendly. The only negatives: we were first given a room already occupied (the staff apologized and fixed the problem immediately) and that you have to drive everywhere - but the cab service in the area was great and the hotel overall is in a great location (minus the highway). We enjoyed the beautiful beaches nearby - great food (try the sushi restaurant next door and The Back Porch on the beach for lunch). Great deal for a very busy weekend!

Best Comfort Inn I know of!

    from

Destin is a beautiful place and this is a very nice comfort inn. It is not on the beach, but you can walk or take a short drive to the public beach. It is surrounded by nice restaurants and shops. For a comfort inn, this is the best one I know of!

    Great Place to Stay!

    from

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Destin this last week and we know why it was rated so high..The rooms were very clean. It had a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. It had an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, exercise room..Everything was very nice and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only negative thing at all I can say, and it is minor, is that you will need to drive across the street to the beach. It might be within "walking distance" , but you have to cross a very busy highway to do get there. The staff even advised against walking. But overall, it was great and we would definitely stay there again!

... in time change. I was so thankful that the time change happened on the drive home though and not on the way to Destin as I had originally thought. We also hit a lot of rain to the point where I could hardly see where I was going. It was bad. I was glad to make it home safe and sound after white knuckling the steering wheel for hours.

... one of them took a nibble. But they are harmless. We also noticed there are no shells here. It is almost remarkable. I don’t know that I have ever experienced a beach with literally no shells.

For dinner we went to Camille’s which is literally 2 stop signs down the road. They had sushi and it was amazing. Plus it was special sushi night tonight ($6 rolls) so we ate up! They also had the most wonderful bread pudding. ...

... ant disaster. They were apologetic. We finally left and then tried to get breakfast. Jym found a place online and when we got there it had closed and become a Vegan restaurant called Seed. It was late and I just wanted to get going so I we decided to eat there anyway. The food was all non meat including no eggs but hey…we will try anything once. The food was definitely interesting. It was also a pretty pricey bill ...

... I eat a mountain of crawdads, and have a bowl of a very passable gumbo. The nice lady keeps my glass of unsweet tea full to the brim and it turns out all right.

I am back in my room by 8:00 PM to do some serious catch-up blogging as I have fallen far behind. With this morning's entry about yesterday, I have caught up to myself, yeah! Also this morning the blog has exceeded 1000 hits, thank you for the support!

... But, now it’s time for a comeback to reality once again.

We had a fast trip on the train late Wednesday from Florence to Rome and transferred to a regional train for the last ride to Fiumicino Aeroporto. The Italian countryside flew by at about 170 MPH, slower than from Venice :>) and I am sharing some snapshots of the rolling hills we passed on the journey. Take a look at how the trees close to the train ...
