      Hiring a car for 3 days to drive the great American roads from Cousin Ellen in Virginia through Maryland to Pennsylvania to visit Dan, a composer and pianist who was studying composition in Rome when I lived there for 6 mths aged 22 and shared a flat with for a bit.       ... when we got off the bridge there was a sharp turn uphill and when we made the turn we saw our first Amish men riding a horse and carriage. As we came out of the park near the end of the day the last part of the road was great. The road travelled along the Allegheny river and then rose up over a mountain with great twisty roads. By 6 we stopped in Franklin for the day and had a great supper at a chain called Kelly's. Best food we had all week. Rode 360 km ...
