We flew into Baltimore Washington Airport yesterday via Minneapolis. The flights went well and we landed at BWI on time at 9:00 PM. After picking up our van, we arrived at our hotel a little after 10:00 PM. No place nearby to eat after we checked in late so we opted for take-out from McDonald's - not our favorite. Day 5, Charlotte to Baltimore drive

We left Charlotte around 8am with our shortest drive yet, ~7 hours if straight through. The drive up I77 has been beautiful through the mountains but the kids had a rough morning, they were probably tired. We stopped for lunch in Roanoke Virginia and checked out the second biggest man made star and a great overlook of Roanoke valley! Afternoon has been better and less than 160 miles to Baltimore! I think the buy-in was $10 or 20 dollars. Betsy said that the men were very solicitous, patiently telling her about big and little blinds and all the ...

... in the Blue Ridge Mts. was to the top of "Old Rag" mountain. Ryan took us on this nine-mile loop. This was exactly the kind of hike that we know we won't be able to do probably some time in our 'nearish' future. It was at the outer limits for our quads and knees in terms of stamina. There was an extended section of climbing up, around, and under boulders at the top. You know other people think you are old when they keep offering ...

Nice place for a family with a quiet pool. Good breakfast. A little worn.
