... ive learned like going to the rodoviara ( bus station) to by bus tickets rather through an agent or online will work out 20 aud cheaper etc. I have decided to cut the trip short though. travelling alone is expensive and ************* as i make friends, i say good bye to them in a few days... not having much.luck meeting people going my way. so ill be back on the 23rd of April! ... arrived at 6:30 in the morning - after ca. 8 hours in the bus sleeping and waking up all the time - the first thing to do was once again looking for a good bakery and having a coffee and a croissant. Then at 9, the hostel can be visited because receptionists in cheap hostels usually don't wake up at 6.. rock'n'hostel is close to the rodoviaria, ca. 15 min by walking. ... ona motorbike drinking it. You have to drink it out of special mugs that have a straw that stops the loose tea going up it. By all accounts it tastes horrible and we're not eniterely sure if it contains drugs or not but it seems to be a big part of life here.

... different from what I imagined from my small town experience of living in Rio Grande do Sul. Porto Alegre is really diverse in people and they have a really cool culture. When I was walking around the city on Sunday, there were so many people out and about, driving mate, practicing capoeira and generally just enjoying the nice day.

Brazil and I aren't friends... yet

So my first date with Brazil wasn't a home run, but there were enough things about it I liked that I would definitely ask for a second date!

To summarize:
- I was never able to take any money out from the ATMs while in Brazil so that was my first challenge (of course I did get Reals before I left but they were forgotten on the table at home)
- Things were very hectic prior to my departure so a giant backlog of work was hanging over ...
