We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

The tight camp woke up around 7 with a zest in our eyes. That always happens on town day. Town day gets people motivated. We made short work of the miles til lunch, and then I swear we moved faster still the second half of the day. That got us down to Interstate 5 by late afternoon. But we ate at Panda Express on the way home and it was delicious!

We got back later than I wanted but the trip was a success, apart from my open wound blister which I am currently nursing. It is doing well thanks to the advice of my dermatologist.

Overall, the trip was a success. I look forward to returning to Squaw Meadow. I loved it there!

Last night and this morning we did all our laundry from the cruise – then had the fun of repacking it all back into our suitcases! Once that was done, we were on our way to Beaverton, OR, to visit Scott and Amy. Scott Hinckley (Shari's oldest son) married Amy over Memorial Day weekend and became an instant daddy for her son, Jackson. It was fun seeing Scott and Jackson interact. I think ...

Today we were able to start late, at about 9:00. We had a quick talk about the scenario last night, and did an exercise that further our knowledge of search and rescue. It was a long exercise as we had to plan a trip in Patagonia, and deal with any injuries that would appear, plus an evacuation plan. After lunch, we learned multiple ways of carrying people through the wilderness and created our own litters. A litter is a sled that a patient who is unable ...
