    ... get gas and refuel our bodies (that means eat, Ester, Jeeze anyhow). It was good to get out of Charlie, stretch our legs and just relax a tad after the stress of all the Cali traffic.

    We took the cutoff off off Hwy 10 and went thru Buckeye instead of downtown Phoenix and rush hour traffic. It was about 30 miles further, but I think we maybe met 10 cars the whole way over to Hwy 8.

    ... I think that he went out of his way to take us out the day beore he left. The water proved to be reasonably calm once we got to our destination about 40 miles out into the Sea of Cortez. We stopped about halfway out to fish for bait and managed to catch some small red snapper and bass. Once we reached the "shelf" where George has had great success in the past we dropped anchor and hooks. He could see the fish under us on the fish finder but ...

    ... enjoy the view... we sure did... And remember that from these people came the Apache, Navaho, Pima, Hopi, Zuni and other tribes that are still here.

    Of course over the years... The landscape has changed... it’s given up the minerals of the Black Hills... Copper, Silver... some Gold... and one of the views south and west, show the changes from these mining ...

    ... place "right over there"..We turned around...saw a place but it was closed.."Nope that ain't it" they said...Looked some more and couldn't find it. We did find a Denny's and had us a nice supper to ring in the New Years....Off we went back to the campground tired, well fed and happy. A good nights sleep would bring the day that I could cross off another line on my bucket list that was there since around 1951 or so....
