... Butte was a copper mining town and at one time was one of the largest suppliers in the world. The anaconda mining company was sold to Arco. Mining was stopped for a few years but resumed in 1988. The town is trying to recover. It burned in the 1800's and the city required all new buildings to be made of brIck. Today we drove to Butte, Montana on our way to Yellowstone. We had lunch in Kalispell with a friend of Nancy's who she's known since first grade. Went back to the Palace on Wheels and took Angel for a walk, nice evening for a walk. Settled in for some hot chocolate (Sugar and Fat free of course) and a ...

Upon reaching Butte, Montana, we took a little detour here to take a picture of Eddy's Motel (there's a little story with this that I won't repeat here -- it's a bit of a Bushaw family "joke"). We then decided to go up the hill in Butte to see if we could see into the Berkeley Pit, which is a defunct pit mine that is slowly filling with water, which in turn is leaching all kinds of ugly stuff out of the soil; Ruth looked up some information on the internet -- it's not ...

... br> What a sunny day! I’m so glad to be guest blogging. Saturday Jen and Jared picked us up in Spokane and we made our way to "butte-i-ful" Butte. After a nice breakfast at the KOA, we used a walking tour map to explore town.

Our trusty map led us to the Arts Chateau, which is a historic building that was built for the son of one of the copper kings. The house had some pretty cool features, including light fixtures that were built to ...
