... Pit Mine. Went there and saw mine from observation deck. Anaconda Company had underground mines in area for years and then started the open pit mine in 1955. It operated until 1982. In 1983 they shut down the underground mine pumps and bottom is filled with 41 billion gallons of water. Pit measures 7,000 by 5,600 feet. Very impressive.

Also, we went into an old bank which had the largest vault you could ever imagine. The door alone the told us weighed over 2000 tons, and it took about 30 horses to pull it up the road to the bank!

It wasn't actually that bad but it did get hot and I left before I got cooked. Missed a lot of good music but missed also swarms of overweight sweaty unwashed listeners.
