... to depict all his detail with layers of glass except for faces, hands and feet which are painted on. This means that many of the panels have very thick glass. We were invited to feel the windows - painted ones are rough, Tiffany ones are smooth. Also, of course, they are a lot more modern in style. A truly great experience!

... built by a free person of colour. He was a successful business man (barber) who actually had slaves of his own. Then back to the boat for a quick lunch and a break. Weather still very hot and humid, no rain yet. After lunch went to Stanford Hall which was the grandest of the lot. It has 3 mirrors which are 14 x 7 feet. Leaving the drama of New Orleans behind us, we took a taxi back to the airport and picked up a hire car. Headed out west towards Baton Rouge and set the SatNav for the Oak Alley Plantation. I have absolutely NOTHING to say. Today was a boring day of driving. We decided to forgo Beale Street and Graceland as really bad weather was predicted for Memphis and after seeing news this evening it was a good choice. We are now south of Jackson MS other than that I have not a clue where we are. The computer filled in the location above. Working our way home. See you soon..........
