A Delightful Delancey

Double-Duty

Today was our first day having two schools in a morning. Thursday morning, we went to Milford MS in Quakerown, PA. The school was scheduled for 8:00, but they started sending the kids into the gymnasium at 7:20! Thankfully, we were way ahead of schedule and about ready to start the show anyway, but apparently there was some miscommunication or a change of plans, and the ...

I can't pass them up when I can fly for the equivalent of $7 to $15!! The train can be over $100 for similar trips.

My flights on Air Asia are just as cheap and my best one is $1.36 to fly from Brunei to Kota Kinabalu. Northlandz

Recently, our "road trip budget" has fallen short. Since the cost of living went up, and the salary didn't we had to cut out some of the more expensive trips (expensive for us, basically if it’s more then $50 for all four of us, we’re not going) but we still manage to find places. The problem we are facing is when it’s a rainy day.

This week we went to see the world’s largest model railroad in Northlandz in Flemington, NJ ...

Exactly how many crayola colors are there?

... were extracted and each step was explained in the process. In addition to watching the demonstrator, cameras were installed next to each machine and you could view what was happening on two television screens on each side of the "stage". The demonstration was good for adults, but I felt that the most kids had tuned him out within 5 min. The kids did get a freshly made crayon at the end of the crayon presentation. Despite this little perk I thought my ...

Mercer Museum

We wanted to do something just us and the kids sent the next several weekends will be filled with birthdays and holidays. We found the perfect place in the Mercer Museum in Doylestown, PA. The museum had several things going for it - it looks like a castle, seemed to have some children's activities, about an hour's ride and best of all - on ...

In closing...

... I was in full addict mode - despondent and irritable, I went to the grocery store and found real greek yogurt, by chance. $1.89 for a single serving, but still, I clapped outloud when I saw it. I didn't even like greek yogurt a month ago. Now I crave it. Further evidence of my Greek acculturation - kind of like the fannypack which I petulantly refuse to give up. I spent the last two days at school, nesting and moving all of my **** from one side of the room to the ...

The Drosh of Chaos

... in New Zealand after all. The Chaos wasn't as bad as I expected. There's a life lesson for ya. Giving up my apartment was actually the easiest part of the past few days. I felt nothing, even though I've been there for 7 years. It was a place to sleep. I really lived at the paper. And the hardest part was saying goodbye -- even for a while -- to my friends and colleagues. I said, I will be back on Monday March 5 and you will not even have noticed that I've been away ...

No Sleep

Sleep deprived but good. That's how I am. I was sleep deprived before I went. This morning my flight was at 7. I figured if I was out of the hostel by 5:15, at LaGuardia by 6 I'd be fine. I mean, is Toronto-New York _really_ an international flight? Is the recommended 3 hours prior _really_ necessary even if it is? All my business travelling friends swear it is. I don't fly across the border on a weekly basis as they do, but it seems to me that a bad experience or two ...
