On the Way

So, I'm off to Fuzhou for the 3rd year in a row. My bag only weighed 33 pounds, but that's good because inevitably I end up carrying the overweight goods from my traveling companions.

This year, again, we'll be teaching teachers of English. My level is middle school, and my content is American Lit. I take a regional approach that encompasses the NE (Wabanaki stories) to the Far West (Sandra Cisneros). But the main focus is not the content but the learning strategies that I ...

After a tour of the fort, Shirley went up the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory. The bridge replaced the Waldo-Hancock Bridge in 2006 when the original 1931 bridge was found to have major structural issues. The observatory ...

Best lobster roll?

A travel blog entry by 4evr2findu

The cooler weather got even better when light showers floated in this morning. It's been years since I (Tammy) was able to sleep with the window open, and it was peaceful and meditative. A great way to start the day. For dinner we went to Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast because they're supposed to have the Best Lobster Roll in the county. While I do not care for lobster, I fell in love with the roll ...

    A Highlight Of Our Trip

    from

Our stay was in October, 2004. The Ocean's Edge was one of numerous hotels we stayed in on our 10-day Fall Colors vacation. I rank it as one of the Top 3 places we stayed, the other 2 being B&Bs.

    Friendly, Immaculate

    from

We traveled all over the USA and Europe and really enjoyed this Inn. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view is spectacular. The breakfast was excellent, and the Inn was immaculate. I also liked having a guest laundry.

    We'll be back!

    Great view but . . .

    from

We booked 2 nights here in August'04 based on good tripadvisor reviews and fair prices. The room was very clean, the staff friendly, and the view beautiful. Unfortunately the hotel is poorly constructed so that it is very noisy in the room. The first night we were kept up for hours by noisy neighbors above us who had kids running around and jumping in the room. I spoke to the front desk in the morning. The man was extremely polite and assured me they were moving out that day. The second night was quieter, but still we heard every door open and close, hallway conversations, showers running, toilets flushing, and dogs barking.

    Great Hotel Great Staff

    from

The staff is wonderfully accommodating. They were exceptionally friendly and competent. The room was spotlessly clean. They even have a game room and indoor pool to entertain the kids. The free breakfast was nice, too. I just can't say enough good things about the staff.

    Ocean's Edge is aptly named

    from

Very clean and updated rooms, great continental breakfast, the restaurant was superior and better than many that we have tried in the area. Balcony overlooking the ocean is grat even in the winter.
