... his quirks and ticks I started thinking murder! We got ourselves a decent sized room complete with a solid concrete bed!
The beach was a bit of a walk away, but we were rewarded on arrival. Clean water, clean sand and freshly shucked oysters for $8 a dozen. And they were huge. I could see myself living there, if only for the oysters alone.
We stayed here a few days longer than expected, had Halloween with some people in the hostel. I also ended up playing in a ...
... it being nothing like Cornwall, it was still very beautiful and historic. The YHA was an old Georgian Manor, complete with a wood pannelled library with dusty tomes and leather armchairs. We spent lots of time on the beach, finding lovely shells and relaxing, though it was incredibly hot. One night we drove to a beach to eat our classy desert of a four pack of white Magnums, only to find a full scale dinner party in full swing upon it. So, Thursday night dinner party club ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia geofflove... of superinflated pricing this deli was like a goldmine bonanza, and I came so close to ordering two just because I could afford it. The sandwich lady asked what I wanted on it and in my excitement I told her just pile on everything possible...lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, peppers, you name it...the works. That little sandwich quickly became $14 (including a buck to toast it) and I actually asked her, "What the hell happened to $3.90?" Turns out in ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia atlpilot36... van (bread, mayonnaise, peanut butter, chicken loaf, all together, yum), we fed ourselves. We got to Mt Barker no problem, by now in the dark, then we got lost. We had only the vaguest instructions on how to find the bike path, and wound up riding in a couple of big circles. Third opinion of the day was then expressed that we can't keep attempting different road, of the real need to stay together as a tight group and no more splitting up on climbs. After some directions from some ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia doonapj... two kookaburras, a barn owl and a wedge-tailed eagle. The trainer offered anyone to have a glove and have a kookaburra land on it, I was first up! He flew immediately to me and was quite happy to be stroked, using the back of the hand. The barn owl was quite happy sitting on people's knees and hopped along the row of people. The eagle was moulting so could not be flown but he stretched his wings - beautiful colours, gold and brown. We saw these flying in the ...

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia travelfitz... by future long before I had control over it, and now that I do I can't imagine turning back. When I was in Toronto last year my friend Dave reminded me that the things I'm doing were what I'd dreamed about in high school.
But to a certain extent the question "what am I doing with my life" is a little more pointed now that I'm turning 30 in less than six months. I've been staring that number in the face for a few years now, and had recently decided ...
I don't mean to sound like a prima dona, though I've worked in places that bred them, restaurants that set trends and high standards for food and service. Places where it was verboten to carry more than one plate at a time and where on a good night an average waiter could make hundreds of dollars. The dining culture here is completely different, and besides the lack of tips, it's this disparity that bothers me most.
At Stoli all my previous resto ...
... of keys to give to the girls just in case I locked my keys in the car, and... yes, you guessed it. The irony was just sickening. I ran back upstairs to the room to grab some ID and shrapnel to make a phonecall to NRMA, the roadside service. I figured since I've used my phonecall charm to windle them out of money before (this is up in Morton National Park in NSW when Stella decided she was tired and didn't want to go anymore), I would be able to do it again. I tried. I had the ...
