      ... mini rapids happening and the river is flowing quite quickly. The back drop is the greenery of the trees around us and the foreground is the rocks on the shore. We follow the path down and at one point we head down to get a closer look at the river. Now we didn't know we were going to be doing this kind of walking so we weren't wearing our hiking shoes.       ... The colonnaded, domed Jefferson Memorial is set beautifully on the south bank of the Tidal Basin with a bronzed statue of Thomas Jefferson facing the White House. The original statue of Jefferson was made of plaster because it was sculpted during a time (1943) when metal was strictly rationed. After WWII, the plaster statue was removed and replaced with the bronze version that exists today.

      ... my nice fluffy queen size bed! One thing I will miss is the nice warm weather because we are heading home to snow!! I hope I am able o go back to Greece and Turkey soon, and now I will have a good idea of how it works and what to do!!
