... the next stage more closely to get our supplies right. We are set up to counter the wind but as luck will have it the wind changed direction whilst cooking bringing the rain in on the stove and kitchen. Thank goodness for the bottle of red. All gone. Cooked, fed and inside warm and dry we plan to look over Adelaide city tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will improve tomorrow.
Seacliff, South Dakota, Australia omlukeUp at 8am and talked to Judith Hall on Michael's Skype. I went into the garden to hang out the laundry on the washing line and decided to clean up the garden. I cleared leaves that had dropped in the drought. I swept the two bricked patios and it looked quite neat afterwards. I would love a garden this size at home. It is a walled garden with mature trees, a large shed as well as an inconspicuous area for compost, pots and big garden gear, a small lawn surrounded by gardens ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia acctastehe heat has been stupid...over 40 for 7 days, hasn't been below 35 since i got here. Got as high as 45.6....the record is 46...damn! Things Adelaide Has Learnt From The Heat Wave 2009: What a delightful reminder as we swelter here in Adelaide SA with 6 days in a row of higher than 40 ° C including our near record of 45.6° C degrees! § The best parking space is determined by shade ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia big_papi... es auch sein - Bierchen getrunken. Das Bier schmeckt echt gut. Carlton Draft oder Coopers. Lecker. Riesiger Fels Koala. An einem ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia kangorooisland... for Will! During the day I went up to the Adelaide hills to visit John and Libby Clapp and family. In 1979 my Dad (and family) swapped jobs, homes and countries with the Clapps for one year. They rudely did this before I was born but the hospitality John and Libby have shown me here (and in 2000) more than made up for that! It was great to catch up with them and see the house which they'd kindly be allowing us to stay in ...
Glenelg, South Australia, Australia samandchantal... than normal to get on the road and also because I have convinced him to drive the longer way through Gawler and the Clare Valley to Melrose, which is on the lower part of the Flinders Outback and he is dreading the slower, longer drive. All I know is that I could not take another go at the Port Wakefield Road and we are also trying to justify the National Parks Pass and stay at as many free campsites as possible. By driving this way we will be able to tick all the boxes.
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia millersofoz... the Maralinga story could be a cause as well. Maralinga is a remote site in SA where the British did nuclear testing in the 1950s. British and Australian servicemen were purposely exposed to fallout from the blasts, to see what happened. Furthermore, during one test, the wind forecast turned out to be wrong, with the nuclear wind blowing over the Adelaide area. But who will tell.... So beside regular hand ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia christiannevn... are huge glass hotels lining the beach and you can spot the tourist everywhere. I am staying in a hostel with seven beds per room. Most of the people there are either hippies or dumb-ass So-cal girls, so I kept to myself last night. The sun is much hotter here it feels like (don't worry mom, as I type this I have enough sunscreen on to make me look like a ghost... and a hat). The water is clearer, cleaner, and warmer, but the ...
Glenelg, Australia hbomb1... his body clock and at the same time to try to understand what people are saying to him. His English isn't terribly good. He's been sent here alone, all the way to Australia, as part of a course of study to learn about wine growing. And I do feel sorry for him. Most people are here by choice, it's not often you meet those who are not. Thus he begins to ask a lot of questions on the subject of why it is that so many ...
Glenelg, South Australia, Australia gerry_goosehart... with several fridges and storage areas. All doors have meaty locks on them and fire exit routes are clearly displayed - plainly South Australia is a place where rules and regulations are taken seriously. By those making the rules perhaps. And I am quick to find out that parking within 5 meters of a junction will earn me a ticket. A neat little baggie is placed under my wiper blade. Inside the sealed packet is a computerised set of directives ...
