The tight camp woke up around 7 with a zest in our eyes. That always happens on town day. Town day gets people motivated. We made short work of the miles til lunch, and then I swear we moved faster still the second half of the day. That got us down to Interstate 5 by late afternoon. ... climbing. We could see the summit of Mount Shasta, which was awesome. But after a ways, the trail wasn't matching my trail notes, and it seemed to be turning and going in the wrong direction. We decided we were on the wrong trail and headed down. But it was cool to see the summit of Mount Shasta from that hike.
We went back to the trailhead and saw that it was on the other side of the parking lot that we needed to be for the Squaw Meadow hike.
