... flying so close. But now it's very late, it's really hard to see the bats, every now and then I feel a barely perceptible sprinkle of rain, and the kids are done. I mention the rain to Megan (who is getting a degree in biology) and she tells us this is not rain, but bat poop. Hmmm, well that's a new one for me. Honestly, it's like a micro- drop and doesn't even show up, but still…..ewwwwww! We shower well.

Andrew, Sara and Emerson fly today to Australia for 3 weeks. We wish them safe travelling.

Set off west, across Louisiana into Texas. Miles of motorway elevated above swamps, with resident alligators. Crossed Henderson Swamp on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, second longest in U.S. at 18.2 miles long. Passed Breaux Bridge, crawfish capital of the world, and Lafayette, bisque capital!

Today is a travel day. We are heading out of Corpus Chrisi to Beaumont, Texas. Got a little taste of how fast weather can change on the gulf. Robbie is very excited about going through the states today and keeps asking why Texas is so big! Soon enough we will be enjoying some fried alligator in Baton Rouge.
