I know we'd been to Amish Acres about 3 weeks ago, but only managed a couple of hours at that time. So I was delighted when Paul booked an overnight package.
Boy i was so hot and humid when we arrived yesterday afternoon, so it wasn't easy to lug our many bags up a flight of stairs to the floor above. I thought OMG it's not got air con, as the hallway had nothing, but whew relief when we got into our spacious room.
I have been both excited and saddened by this morning. It means our last morning with Jim and Steph, but it also marks the beginning of our time with Jeni and Bill at their lake house. As an extra added bonus, it means I FINALLY get to go and buy a hand stitched Amish Quilt (and maybe a few other things) to use for the 'Midwest' themed guest room I plan on decorating when we get home. :-)
Verne's sister Dotty arrived today! She is knows as "The Boss" and is very loved and respected!
We took the pontoon boat out and picked up a pizza that we ate out on the lake.

We just spent the day trying to recoup from last night. Tonight we get to do it all again!
Several of the neighbors put on firework shows on the fifth and also on the weekend following the fourth. Both the fourth and the weekend after come complete with a hog roast and a day of partying.

Lots of work being done on the house today. It may be a holiday for us, but not to the Amish men that are doing the building. By the end of today the house will be completely framed, wrapped, and the roof covered.
