... singing a song about it, is a miniature train. What?????? There’s even a building around its little world.
· What’s next? In Chattanooga, there’s an “Int’l Towing & Recovery Museum.” It features antique towing and auto wrecking equipment. There’s also a National Knife Museum with12,000 knives, swords, razors and cutlery items – believe it ...
... of displays depicting nursery rhyms which Bek found quite disturbing because they were all glow in the dark and a little freaky but the craftmanship to make it was quite inpressive. Ruby Falls is America's highest underground waterfall, about 400m below the surface and almost 150m high. You have to walk through caves to get to see it, and it IS something. It pours out of a hollow above, cascades spectacularly into a pool then runs away underground ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States bekandjesseWe have arrived in Chattanooga and found ourselves a bargain basement priced little wooden cabin to keep us out of the rain and in the warmth, yay! This is just a short entry. This week we will be staying here in Chattanooga checking out the surrounds and making a few day trips to neighbouring states.
We will keep you updated. Lots of Love, the warm, Bek and Jesse Train
... we get to the tower at stop 6 (Wilder’s brigade) we cannot go in due to wasp activity. We do read the little sign of the area where a Federal mounted infantry made a stand. They were equipped with the spencer repeating rifle that most of them bought for themselves. The Confederates were coming at them 7 rows thick so I think most appreciated that they had them.
We stop at the Snodgrass cabin where many wounded were ...
... for a touring bike - a lot of ruts and unstable due to gravel. It was a sunny day and the view was spectacular. Dan & Darla had visited the overlook a month earlier and it was an overcast day. This day was clear and the visibility was immense.
We left the overlook and when we reached the end of the gravel road we turned right and turned ...
Jamie, Zach, and I can now say that we have done what all the barns and bird houses across the southeast has been requesting people to do: See Rock City. Rock City is a Labrinth of rock formations on the highest peak in Tennessee. From one spot we could Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Zach enjoyed looking at the rocks that loomed overhead and the massive waterfall.
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States hillaryjoseph... I'm almost close enough to walk, just 87 miles to home. The Tennessee River, it's beautiful! Will the water down below get to my house before I do? The traffic is horrendous now. People driving down the hill so fast, they're passing me, now I'm Toyota meat, sandwich-wedged between two trucks. Rock City sign, Lookout Mountain in the distance there, exit now, Highway 153. The Chickamauga Dam! My Lake! So wide and blue. Lakeshore Marina just below my house ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States burtonllGo with me? Even if you don't own a boat, chances are you have a friend who does. Or at the least you occasionally follow somebody who's trailering one down the highway, fishing gear piled hopefully in back. This is boating country, my friends, a Chris Crafter's heaven. Ski boats, bass boats, slow boats, fast boats - all fit easily in a city that circles a 35,000-acre lake and bridges a major river. But all this water-based ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States burtonll... Strap'em in mama, and watch'em go! Once you reach the ripe old age of 10 (if you are at least 4'10" tall), you're old enough to go full-throttle on the big-time track. The double cars accommodate an adult too, should a parent choose to share the ride. No brickyard here, but 1,200 feet of curves for a five-minute speedway feel. Safety rules are stressed before you exit the pit and reckless drivers ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States burtonll... You can even learn the history of NASCAR racing! Highest waterfall and deepest lake bragging rights "east of the Mississippi" go to Amicalola Falls and Carter Lake. From Ducktown head south to Copperhill and McCaysville, two towns that share a river; stand on the bridge where the sign marks the Toccoa changing to the Ocoee. Beyond McCaysville the hills become dotted with apple trees; to the west is the Cohutta Wilderness area. If it's outdoor adventure you crave, stop at ...
