Today was our last day in Washington, before getting the Amtrak to Chicago in the afternoon. First of all just to say that our place to stay with airbnb was really good! We stayed near H Street, and we went to &Pizza and had possibly the most garlicky pizza of my life. Also managed to track down a good bottle of wine, and chilled out for the night watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. A much needed rest! Back to today. We went to the Smithsonian Air and ...

Heaven, gregarious as usual, made friends with everyone in sight and soon we had a lively crowd drinking yuengling and playing jenga together. It was all starting to look the ...

... with the trashy Dairy Queen for birthday lunch! The lodge was off the beaten track in the middle of a forest with rustic log cabins and yurts and to stay in. We had a nice dinner and several wines in the restaurant that night before enjoying our sleep in the peaceful surrounds. The next morning we were up a little early for breakfast so they gave us a couple of coffees in takeaway cups and we wandered around the grounds. We spotted a couple of hammocks in the trees so Donelle thought ...

... s home, with drunken greetings since everyone had gotten there before us. They were having a huge lawn party with food, games and corn hole. It was so much fun and a great start to the weekend!

That same night, Friday, we went out onto the lake to watch the fireworks. They were magnificent! all of the boats out on the water were congregated together and dark except for the few lights twinkling on board each. It was a beautiful ...
