Woke up to more rain, drove through Eden and into the state of Victoria, through Cann River and Orbost we had torrential rain all the way so we decided to spend the night in a motel and found a Comfort Inn in Lakes Entrance.... the rain did not stop so we got take away and wine and sat in the motel room with extra blankets round us.... nto very …
... made it to Lakes Entrance, a small fishing port with a nice esplanade. So far seen 3 dead kangaroos and 1 dead koala! Continuing on, the huge trees of the forest was amazing as the sun began to set. When we arrived in Eden, it was dark and unable to find a place to rest our heads, we cooked stir fry on the BBQ (mess) and drove on into the night. ... I went to lakes to get the meat, and some party stuff for williams birthday. I didn't feel well at all that damn food upset my stomach thought I was going to poo my pants in the bloody store. I think we all were though.

... a break we had a chat with a Canadian guy who was riding his push bike to Perth! Wally tried to pick his bike up and concluded it was only a tad lighter that Jans CB400!! Rather him than us. Back on to the A1 we were soon passing the border into Victoria where apparently the cops show no mercy for the slightest speed misdemeanour. Jan is now getting used to the vastness of Australia and the chatty way of the natives. Even more surprising was the sight of quite a few bikes ...

arrived in Lakes Entrance in Oct '10 in the middle of torrential rain!
Intended to camp but checked in here instead.
Very friendly staff, clean room and good value for money.
Luckily the rain stopped the next day too!
