Long travel day today, got in at 3:45pm. Was actually on Blue Ridge Parkway for little bit, then it got REALLY interesting. LOVE this campsite. We are actually sitting outside voluntarily at 4pm and enjoying it. Still humid but wonderfully cooler. Fireflies! Babbling brook sounds soooo ...

The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through the Appalachians in Virginia, and what a beautiful drive! All the rain here creates a very green, lush landscape filled with yellow, white, purple and pink wildflowers and soft pink mountain laurel blooms as well as bright pink rhododendrons. On the way in I found a pair of scissors sticking out of a tree stump in the forest. As I recently had been wanting to trim ...

... Our next stop was the Natural Bridge Caverns. The temperature in the cavern is a steady 54 degrees so I grabbed my State jacket that I keep in the car. It felt really good going in but by the end of the 3/4 mile walk I was ready to take it off. The cavern descend 34 stories, the last part not recommended for those with breathing or heart problems because of the the change in pressure. When we got to the end the guide wanted us to see how dark ...

Thursday, May 22 2014 It was hard to leave Four Pines Hostel this morning. Going to miss the great people there, and the dart board, I suck at darts......but it is fun to use real darts - not those plastic tip safety **** ones that you usually find these days! It was a hot hike out! I think my shoes melted a little. We caught up to Twill, and figured out he was the one who left his sleeping bag, and foot print at the Hostel. So Chance made the run ...
