Hi All - getting ready for my big trip tomorrow (which is totally going to suck). Anyway, here's a brief overview of my itinerary.
Saturday afternoon - leave Louisville, long layover in Philly - arrive in Lisbon at 9 am local time. Lisbon is 5 hours ahead of Louisville.
Sunday - try and stay awake before I can check into my hotel by ...
A short walk from the hotel lead us to the Louisville Convention Center and my first Kentucky Starbucks. I made it a mocha since it doubled as my breakfast. I asked the barista if they carried city mugs and he replied with a slight southern tang, "Nope. Small market."
Right.
... Caddy.
We then ventured over to the "hip side of town" and visited Lynn's Paradise Cafe. A busy destination spot, to be sure, but Lynn's was well worth the wait. It's tacky and eclectic and the wait staff are Kentucky's finest punk hippy kids--in short: awesome with veggie options. I had the vegetarian biscuits and gravy and my first ever plate of fried green tomatoes.
With two 8 hour days of work remaining before our trip I find it increasingly hard to focus and stay on task...there are still a couple of loose ends to tie up before leaving and I find myself obsessing about them while working. I've made most of my miscellaneous purchases. But I still have to put together our travel binder and figure out how to combine my clothes and personal items into one small carry-on piece of ...
Louisville, Kentucky, United States whoisjohngalt... 5 barges are commissioned to have fireworks set off from them too to really enhance the show and to make it easier to see from space. Ha ha.
It's all really worth it. The getting up early, paying $25 dollars for parking, the sun and all... The show is great and it brings out the little kid in you and makes good memories for kids all over the Kentuckiana region.
If you are in Louisville in late April... I totally suggest you go to Thunder Over Louisville. It's a blast!

... friend, Neesa, was right. As we approached the area of the New River Gorge, the clouds moved down the mountains and the rain started. The slight detour we were going to make to this national park was set aside and we just kept driving. It would be almost trite to say the "clouds blanketed the mountain" but, in fact, they did but it was a different sort of blanket. It was more than a fog and less than a thick blanket because through the clouds, the ...

Wicks Pizza: Louisville's best pizza place. L-ville has a lot of pizzaria's. But wicks is the best. Nice big portions, with amazing ingredients. Plus, reasonably priced! I highly suggest it.
... way. These signs cost $1200 each. The construction areas are lined with barrels, but we see few workers. At least the sign makers and barrel suppliers are getting a boost from the Federal government. We took a carriage ride and had dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse downtown. We were glad to leave Louisville’s confusing roads, traffic, trucks, and aggressive drivers unlike any we have experienced during our trip.
Louisville, Kentucky, United States lstoneham... and strike me square on the noggin, rendering me dead or at least in possession of a mighty headache and mild brain damage. That is the only real predator waiting to pounce upon me from its lofty perch. And though it is no less deadly and even far more likely, "struck down by a tumbling flowerpot" lacks the romantic air of something like "mauled by a mountain lion." So it is that in all cases that present themselves outside my front door, all threats animal or environmental, the ...
LaGrange, Kentucky, United States battlemonkey... his affinity for baby food meant that Eric was visited far less frequently than the other kids in the neighborhood. For whatever reason, that whole thing seemed much weirder that Bobby's always taking his pants off and running through the woods. There were others of course, older kids mostly, supporting players who may serve as little else that background characters for this tale but who never the less merit mention if for no other reason than the fact that they add so much flavor ...
