    Up by 6am - and this was supposed to be a holiday! To Amtrak by 8am ready to board by 9.35. We nearly missed the train due to being given incorrect information when we checked in and my (Anne) absent mindedness. Proof of ticket purchase in hand, I proceded to get the paper tickets to be told they couldn't be printed off for some reason but my paperwork had a barcode and would be scanned by the conductor.     ... I'll post pictures and video though You wanna piece of us?!... We stopped along the way to take pictures at designated "vista points"...and at every stop someone would comment on how exciting it was that we drove from Jersey. We stopped explaining and embraced our new west coast personas. (Jersey drug runners in their jacked up mustang). The waterfall... A $10 parking fee and a 1/2 mile hike ...

    The historic area of Monterey is nearby and Customs House dominates. Restored to its 1840's appearance, it displays an exotic selection of goods that traders brought to exchange for cowhides.     ... the commercial one 2) then the touristy old Fisherman’s wharf: if you are hungry you will find something here for sure, at least they give everywhere some clam chowder for trying, which Paul did and Gine not and 3) the US coast guard one.

    Monterey is one of those towns that deserves to be a destination in its own right. There is so much to do here. We could have gone out on a yacht with one of the locals to check out the marine life, hiked one of a number of trails, explored Big Sur, played a round of golf at Pebble Beach... It's a pretty awesome spot. Instead we settled for a quick run along to Lovers Point with the kids on bikes. Those runners out there ...
