... fairly fast flowing, there is pretty much nothing to see for the most part.

We eventually pulled up to Santa Cruz where we ate a Mexican meal and booked into the cheapest motel we have stayed in yet. Just down from the motel, we spotted a good looking wooden roller coaster on the sea front. Matthew asked the manager if it was any good but he didn't know what a rollercoaster was! "You mean tour bus?" he said. No amount of description ...

Wow, das war ein Flug!
Am 23. in der Nacht in Fiji abgeflogen, am 24. in der Frueh die Datumsgrenze ueberschritten und am 23. zu Mittag in LA gelandet, macht man auch nicht jeden Tag :)
Wir fuhren gleich mal zur Alamo-Autovermietung, wo wir uns einen Mittelklasse SUV ueber eine Agentur gebucht hatten weil ein Campervan einfach zu teuer gewesen waere.

As we cycled into Monterey we were joined by another cyclist who decided to guide us into the town as he had nothing better to do. ... so I think they just did that because it was long. The round trip is 13 miles so my walk one way was about 7. The forest was lovely. The Redwood trees are beautiful. You obviously know they are tall but it does amaze you to see it in person. The size of the trunks are incredible, they have huge diameters. There were many trees which had fallen over and the stumps of them were huge, you could stand up inside them!!
