    ... moon-scapes: dry, rocky, bereft of all but very infrequent stunted trees. Up close, it looks even more inhospitable. So steep that even goats would struggle, and so barren that they wouldn't bother.

    But then something quite amazing happens. A new world opens up. The plateau on the top of the mountain is a completely different ecosystem. Mainly fed by snow, and protected from the fierce heat, there is apparently enough moisture to foster mature forests, birds, squirrels, mountain ...

    ... of hours as well as post a couple of blogs. It was very nice getting to talk to him. It’s incredible how much I miss him and am looking forward to spending time with him when I get back home. It’s nice to know that I have someone anxiously waiting for my arrival home.

    ... one of farm houses. While at the reserve we got our first taste of a big Africa landscape with zebra, oryx, and springbok in abundance.
