      Day 1

The day started with a minor flight delay but a short two hour flight into Atlanta for Jared. Natalie was waiting with open arms for a long overdue hug! Our first stop was to the Park Tavern at Piedmont Park. Where we sat under the covered patio by the fire while watching ice skaters try to show off their best moves. We indulged in seasonal spiced beer (brewed right on site), mimosas, and spiced whiskey shots. And ...

After packing yesterday, we all met this morning at 10 AM to start packing up the cars to head to the airport. After getting to the airport, checking in, and passing through security, we made our way to the gate to wait to board. We're at the Rome airport. This is one of my dreams since college. I will come back someday and stay a while. Its thrilling to me to be on italian soil! when i think of the frescoes and mosaics and paintings and sculptures hiding in little churches I know well be back someday. The Rome airport has an interesting set up. When you come in you go through security again. Then on to your gate. This might just be international arrivals. Boy were we ...

... or at least the first half and then we went home after stopping at Sonics. Poor Monica is feeling sick though. She somehow caught a bug between Walmart and my mom's house. Thoughts: I was just thinking about my friends in New York and Connecticut. I hope they are doing OK. I know a few of them are still without power. I often wonder how we would do if some sort of disaster happened here. I wonder if we ...
