Doesn't live up to Comfort Inn standards.

I was very disappointed with this motel. It was not what I expect from the typical Comfort Inn. I it was really a motel (exterior doors) with little thermal or sound insulation, no elevators, and poorly laid out stairs. We had to climb 4 flights of stairs with our suitcases to get to our second floor room from the parking lot. They had a nice bowed shower rod in the bathroom, but it was installed so high the shower curtain kept slipping out of the tub. They advertised refrigerators, but it was really a community-use refrigerator in the lobby of the hotel where the guests could store their food, if they labeled it. They advertise internet, but it was slower than dial-up, and it wouldn't let my husband's computer on at all. The room was the smallest we've had on our trip, and it was the most expensive one yet, even more than we paid for our Canadian rooms. They did have a very good complimentary breakfast, though.

The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. We walked to the nearby shops and had a delicious dinner at Savoury's Restaurant. The pool and spa were so refreshing. And the breakfast in the morning was so good - waffles, eggs, and the sausage was delicious. Thank you so much!

    Maintenance-down day

We set aside today for car maintenance. We've traveled over 5,500 miles in our car, with over 1,000 left to go, so we used today to get our oil changed and get the car washed. After the car maintenance, we only went another 2 hours down the road to Mariposa, the last town on our road before we get to Yosemite. Since we passed a Costco on our way to …

... all over this monolith also - crazy buggers. We took a walk to the lower Yosemite Falls area, but unfortunately both the upper and lower falls were completely dry at this time of year. Ginny was very disappointed by this, as she loves waterfalls and had seen pictures of the lovely falls at Yosemite. Nevertheless the walk was beautiful, the surrounds flawless. We had a bite of lunch (watched closely by the squirrels), and then walked to Mirror ...

The film was an excellent introduction to the valley and the camp, and enabled us to get a real sense of perspective about the history of the place we had chosen to spend our time. Following the film's ending, we headed to the grocery store to buy some snacks for dinner, which we ...

    ... go wrong?............

Met all our group at our mustering point. Just setting off when we realised that Ruth's sunglasses were in the car and the car had been moved 200 yards beyond the already remote car park. Poor Tom tested his fitness at altitude by running down to get them and just caught the shuttle bus.

We started at Tenaya Lake with intro talk from James TR. More ground rules and some background on the lake. The ...

... worry for the camera that is hanging over his shoulder but he makes it with the camera in tact. I follow him gingerly watching every step and make it to a spot and just chill. Breathing in the fresh air.

Next stop is Bridalveil falls. It's less of a walk to see the falls but at the end of the platform there are rocks that you can climb to get to the falls. We decide to go and it's tricky for the klutz that I am. Uneven rocks and some ...
