Doesn't live up to Comfort Inn standards.

I was very disappointed with this motel. It was not what I expect from the typical Comfort Inn. I it was really a motel (exterior doors) with little thermal or sound insulation, no elevators, and poorly laid out stairs. We had to climb 4 flights of stairs with our suitcases to get to our second floor room from the parking lot. They had a nice bowed shower rod in the bathroom, but it was installed so high the shower curtain kept slipping out of the tub. They advertised refrigerators, but it was really a community-use refrigerator in the lobby of the hotel where the guests could store their food, if they labeled it. They advertise internet, but it was slower than dial-up, and it wouldn't let my husband's computer on at all. The room was the smallest we've had on our trip, and it was the most expensive one yet, even more than we paid for our Canadian rooms. They did have a very good complimentary breakfast, though.

The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. We walked to the nearby shops and had a delicious dinner at Savoury's Restaurant. The pool and spa were so refreshing. And the breakfast in the morning was so good - waffles, eggs, and the sausage was delicious. Thank you so much!

Even the Robins love it here!

Today was a day for going off piste.
The next off piste part was the cut off called Priests Station, which takes you straight up the rather steep mountain on a narrow track rather than going on the 120 on a rambling route. Ours was much more fun and it joins the 120 at the brow of the hill anyway.

... on Makinaw island - big and white with an expansive lawn. There was also an old barn with carriages and people dressed like coachmen and milk-mades working in the barn - I guess it was a re-enactment of the time when it was a "bustling community".

we got out and walked along a stream and ate some lunch and pet some horses. It was a pretty drive but it took 3 hours to get there so it was time to head back.
