Woke up to rain today. After breakfast drove over to St. John's church which was built in 1821. Next to it was an amazing oak tree that is over 500 years old.
We then drove to the factory where Tabasco sauce is made. Angie was in heaven. Got some free samples to take along.
On the way back to the hotel, Spotted another casino, Cypress Bayou. Had to make another stop.

Left San Antonio after breakfast at about 10 a.m. Went by the church to leave the candle, but it was locked up. Will look for another one. Got on the freeway, and only got lost twice trying to find I-10 east! The trip to Houston was quite pretty. Farmland and ranches. Saw a lot of billboards saying to stop at Buc-ee's. We had to check it out. It was like a roadside rest area, gas station, snack and souvenir ...
... but really not much. I found us a "hidden gem" of a locals restaurant and we popped in there for a bite to eat. It turned out that it was not much of a gem and that likely the locals would like it to remain local.
Fun fact: Le Petit Baton Rouge (The Little Red Stick) is used by some of the field workers to aid in picking only the perfectly ripe peppers that are the same color red as the stick is painted. ...

Stop 7: Avery Island - When we told our one son, Eric, of our travel plans, he asked if we were visiting Avery Island. I'm sure he was the only one in our family that knew Tabasco Sauce originated on this island. Guess he reads the labels.
