Blown Tire = Entertainment at 70mph!

What could be more fun than driving down the highway, on the first day of your cross-countries trip to Alaska, doing 70mph with a 2000lb trailer on your hitch? How about a trailer tire blowout? This occurred to us earlier today as we were cruising down I-5, just south of a little non-community known as "Lost Hills" California. The tire looks like it exploded, and the shrapnel ...

Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park

As we drove down, we stopped at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park in Earlimart. The park wasn't very big since it looks somewhat like a mini-town. It is pretty much a collection of lovingly restored early 20th century buildings of the Colonel's house, the historic schoolhouse ...

This is it!

This is the blog at which I will be posting updates, musings, pictures, and other interesting tidbits during our tech trip to India. As of right now I am busy getting things ready to go. I've got to finish preparing the donated laptop computers, wrap up a project or two, set my voice-mail to let people know that I will be closed for two weeks, finish getting together my supplies, print up some thank you letters for all of you good people who helped me raise the money I needed ...

Outta there!

So today Bethany and I took off and left Los Angeles. It was a little bit easier than I thought it would be, one reason I think is due to the fact that we left going north through the valley. After awhile we were out of the city and into the flat stinky farmlands of the central valley and onto Visalia. All of which was very dry, dusty and dirty until we got to the foothills of the western sierras and into Sequoia National Park. Bethany did a lot of the ...

L..A. Stopover at crazy but fun Venice Beach

LA was exactly what was required as something completely different folowing a mad dash to get ready to go. Venice beach is like a banana split with peanut butter -weird upon weird with extra calories! I mean the first lady we saw on the beach was at least 120 but that's ok because her nose was new born. It would seem that some forms of self-abuse are still legal in California ...

LA - Hollywood

Well LA was so much better than we ever expected! We went on a few trips here and there, Universal studios and the LA tour were really good. The lasting memories from LA though has to be the nights out in Hooters! That place is so awsome with the best looking girls on earth!! Not only that you were all so sound girls, dont think there was anything we didnt buy! We have a soft spot for Rebekah though! Cant wait to see you in England, you cant be bringing those kids up on your own, ha ha.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas was our first destination on this trip but it didn't seem to like us that much. The airport was some eighties inspired hole and would cause anyone on a mescaline trip to seriously reconsider entering the city. The desert is unbelievably hot and we got some podgy backhand deal with a taxi bus into town. Going past all the big hotels you hear so much about was surreal and we wandered what was our hotel was going to be like. ****. The Circus Circus lays claim to the biggest ...

... by dinner-time (what will I eat?). Gangtok is roughly 12 hours ahead standard time. I am so ready to get the show on the road. So this first entry is a dry run to fine tune my computer acumen, to see if it works. All my future postings will be from an internet cafe. Could you have every guessed that this is what I'd be doing?

We've arrived, crossed the international date line and gained a day. We left Fiji at 10pm on Sunday 10th July and arrived in Los Angeles the same day at 1pm (9 hours before we left)!?! How does that work?? We'll update the site with more news as it comes. In the meantime, news of the horrific bombings in London have filtered through to us. We're absolutely shockjed and horrified and most of all, we hope all our friends and families are safe. Our first week was spent in ...
