We're off to visit Bryce and our grandkids. We got an unfortunate start yesterday. We had to go to the RV dealer before leaving Sarasota to have a new hubcap installed on the back right wheel. On the way there, a check engine light came on. We went to the Mercedes dealer who after about 5 hours, was able to repair ...

... that had some success. The New York Times ran an article about Weeki Wachee and profiled some of the mermaids, it showed them as a tough, no-nonsense close knit group that could work hard and play hard. The park is now a part of the Florida State Park system, so their future may be a bit more secure.

A picnic dinner along the southern banks of the Suwannee River topped off the day.

I had thought we might paddle all the way to Kings Bay, but it took a ton of effort to just cross the river so I decided to explore ...

... is a part of the lake that is called Three Sisters' Spring, some kind of small lagoon, which is accessible via a narrow side arm of the lake. The water is so clear and shallow that it is easy to find manatees lying on the ground. The bad thing is that it is not a secret to find these animals here so you will have to share the small lagoon with dozens of snorkelers and other kayakers. At certain seasons the snorkeling is only allowed with guided tours (to protect the manatees), so ...

We had planned to stop and spend one more night in Georgia but like a horse to the barn, we couldn't wait to get to Nature Coast Landings in Crystal River. We spent four days visiting with friends, riding our bikes, swimming in a real heated pool and sprucing up ...
