30 July For some reason, or other, the kids were acting like they’d been cooped indoors for weeks. When Jo started explaining to them that it was still perfectly acceptable to wallop a disagreeable child in France, I figured it was time to give her a break. The day was topped off by dinner in one of the beautiful squares and a drive home through deserted country roads. ...

Today we drove to Bergerac to see the finish of today's stage . Rain somewhat marred proceedings. But didn't stop the kids getting all excited over the caravan again!. We retreated to the car after the caravan had passed, until the riders came through. We stopped in carlux for dinner and were treated to another great sunset! A wet, but great ...

... along - Bronte and I ran up to a van and bought a bag of french gossip magazines and a Le Tour umbrella. B handed over the money and now claims the umbrella as her own - I have argued (eloquently, I think) that it is my souvenir but we have yet to land on the final word of ownership. After that a dozen cars of old wrinkly blokes, toothlessly smiling and waving to the crowd (I'm guessing riders of yesteryear) and then increasingly, gendarmes on bikes, team cars, and ...
