... and the French Revolution so it's known for its unique architecture. The Chateau is now owned and operated by the Monbazillac Cooperative Winery and the delicious wines served and sold in the tasting room are made by members of the Co-op.

... prehistoric sites, but, due to the French's love of lunchtime closures, our timing seemed wrong all around! We arrived in Les Eyzies just in time for the museum's noon closure, so we drove the road north to the Grotte du Grand Roc and Abris de Laugerie which were also closed for lunch, but we could hike along the road and see the amazing huge rocks resting on top ...

Sadly, despite popular belief, Count Cyrano, invented by 19thC playwright Edmond Rostand, actually has very little connection to Bergerac, and may only have stayed here a night or two way back ...

Today we went down to the bakery and got 2 croissants and 1 baguette as usual and then hit the road for one more day of Le Tour De France but this time it was the time trial where they let the slow rider go first and then the fast riders go and the let then go a minute apart.

... had an assiette, a plate of vegetables with fruit. It was beautifully presented - a great one to eat with your eyes first! Then the taste was scrumptious - fresh and light with some rich tomato flavours at the bottom. Very nice indeed! Jane's main course was slow cooked lamb shank in a very rich sauce. Brad had a local white fish with a delightful accompanying sauce - very crispy skin. Both dishes were accompanied by roasted chat potato ...
