      ... the travel agency) was lovely though, and suggested a few restaurants and told us what bus to get to our hotel later that evening.

      So today we are in Paris. We successfully negotiated the rail lines and the metros to get to our accommodation in Bastille. The metros are surprisingly easy and really convenient. It didn't take long at all to get the hang of how everything worked, getting tickets are super easy and by the looks of it, almost everything we want to get a look at is close to a metro.       ... like LA, so the view was limited. A visit to Notre Dame Cathedral proved interesting due to the history. It took 60 years to build and is very imposing. Went inside! And saw the beautiful stained glass. Like many of these ancient buildings it is full of old artifacts and is very dark inside, but the construction with its flying buttresses is amazing.       ... as it did us! But it's not everyday you come to Paris, and there is so much to cram in! Fortunately we did two things right.
      1. We had a very central apartment...2 minute walk to the Tuileries Gardens, 12 mins from the Louvre, 15 mins from Museè D'Orsay, and a 3 minute walk to the metro station to access all the other sites. This meant we could "go home" throughout the day if we needed to, which we duly did.
