You cannot believe the weight of our six bags plus empty bottles and rubbish all to be carried down the four flights of stairs to meet the taxi at 9. From the Gare de Lyon, we took a 45 minute train ride south west of the city of Fountainbleau- Avon, then a 10 minute bus into the old town and the Château. Construction and decoration of this huge set of buildings began in the 12th century and was added to over the years until the time of the Napoleans.
