Hello Paris

... to be early for our overnight train to Florence in Italy, so much so that we had time to enjoy a great meal at a cafe near to the station where Chris discussed a televised Rugby match between two local sides with the café owner, him in French, Chris in English with loads of hand signals used. We enjoyed a cozy sleeping compartment travelling from Paris to Florence. The next episode - Italy – to have a week in a Tuscan Villa (hopefully in the sun).

... feel! I felt so great in my new clothes, that I pretty much forgot about all the other horrible things for a while! That night I called Jayson again and he told me that he had been on the phone with US Air several times because now they couldn't even find my luggage! So at that point, I just realized that it wasn't coming, and figured that I should just deal with it! I started buying t shirts where ever we went. I bought a $90.00 pair of ...

Time Flies!

... I forgot my bathing suit so I remain a lovely pasty white. It's going to be embarrassing coming back to San Diego where everyone's been baking the entire summer and is probably a crispy golden brown. In any case, the island was perfectly tranquil and completely relaxing. Bike riding, sitting on the beach, eating and talking, talking, talking was practically all we did. I tried moules frites and I actually found that they were delicious (unlike oysters, I find their ...

... offered to move me twelve rows down, two seats to myself, no infants nearby. Smart decision... Old plane, so no individual entertainment - but no matter, I slept and I read a bit, watched a movie on iPod. All in all - rather uneventful. We landed, a few people started getting off, then, no movement. Apologies over the PA system, there's a problem with the ramp, thank you for your patience while we open the other door. A few meters and two minutes later, walking into the ...

Finishing the French Experience!

... beautifully detailed sculptures inside. I think the cathedral was called something like Notre Dame de Chartres, or something like that. So there has been this Russian guy in our group that is traveling with his wife and teenage daughter. They immigrated to the U.S. about 15-20 years ago. The guy is a big guy with extra long nose hair. Sorry, couldn't help but notice it. he seems very outspoken and very ...

Finishing in Paris

... I guess they have the real Matterhorn a few hours away so they don't need one in Disneyland. Karla forced me on the "It's a small world" ride and I conceded. It's not as bad as I remembered, maybe they changed the one in Paris to be a little less annoying. As I went through the ride I was surprised that I actually tell the difference between most of the regions represented. Normally I would have only recognized Mexico, Russia, and maybe Africa. We rode all the big rides and ...

... then it had stopped raining, so me and Evan (a guy from the hostel who I'd buddied up with for the day) went and got desert and hot chocolate at a place called Pauls which has been making amazing deserts since 1800 and something! Beautiful blue skies today so I'm going window shopping at Rue St Honore where the flagship stores for Louis, Chanel, Chloe, Hermes etc are! Drool!!!! I'll take photos!!!! Will update again from my 5 hour layover in Singapore on Monday Australia time.

... everywhere, particularly in the cycle lanes on the road. Everywhere smelling a little of wee. Silly kids letting off caps/firecrackers at my feet and me swearing at them in English, but people understanding me! St Germain church. More creative beggars - postcards with their story on in English. Paris didn't grab me at first but had grown on me by the last day. Especially after went up to Montmartre, very 'Allo 'Allo, in the central square, I half expected Rene to pop out of ...

... into my beautiful montmartre apartment tomorrow. my roomate is greek, darling and ideal. our apartment is on a hilly street called rue caulaincourt, and there is a gorgeous mirrored patissery that looks worthy of a new york times write up next door. everything there is charming and beautifully away from any semblence of touristy paris. the streets are grand and historic and i can't wait to make montmarte my home.

... Monsieur" or ham sandwiches on baguettes. My next goal is to find some good falafel. At this point I was pretty tired, because I got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night, but I made my way to Les Halles Forum (a big mall) to go to an FNAC store (music, movies, books, computers, and electronics) in order to get a SIM card for my phone. However, I needed some form of ID with me, and I left them in my other bag. So I walked ...
