Historical Traveler Reviews of Comfort Hotel Mouffetard-Latin Paris
Tiny But Location Couldn't Be Better
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at Comfort Inn Mouffetard for four nights at the end of May. We arrived very late and the staff was very helpful. They spoke excellent English which was great cause my French is not. We laughed so hard when we saw the elevator. We definately overpacked but only one of us could go up with our luggage at a time, it was very small. The room was not a lot bigger but our luggage did all fit and the beds were comfortble. I was amazed by the tiny shower but there was plenty of warm water. The room is the smallest I've ever seen but we were in Paris so we didn't spend much time there anyway. If the hotel was located anywhere else I wouldn't stay there again but the location is just awesome!!!! I think Rue Mouffetard is my favorite street in Paris it is just the best! There is lots of great food and shopping and it's very close to the metro stop which took us everywhere we needed to go. There is also a street market that is really neat. The street is noisy at night but we actually liked that and slept with the window open and missed the noise at our next hotel. The neighborhood is very nice, we were two single girls traveling alone and we were completely comfortable walking eveywhere even late at night. All the people working in the cafes and shops were super friendly and went out of their way to help us find what we needed. The hotel is tiny but for the price (we got a good deal with Expedia) and location I'm so glad we stayed there, and hope to go back someday.

Well the room was small, but the area made up for it. Hey you're in Paris, what are you doing in your room anyway. Hotel and room were clean and comfortable. Lots of hot water. The location can't be beat.
If you want a taste of the real Paris this is it. The street is great to walk on and the plaza (about a block away) is a great place to have a cup of coffee and relax. Tons of restuarants and a great variety of ethnic food. Metro stop is a block away. We would definately stay here again.
Friendly small hotel in a great area

This Comfort Inn is a nice little property right on the bustling Rue Mouffetard in the interesting Latin Quarter of Paris. We booked it as part of an air/hotel package through US Airways Vacations and were quite pleased with all aspects of it. We stayed there in mid-February 2004 for four nights. // Our hotel room overlooking Rue Mouffetard was small, but perfectly workable. The en suite bathroom was also very small. However, this is not uncommon in most European hotels in cities.
The two twin beds were very comfortable, and the room had a desk with chair, another chair, and a wardrobe for clothes. Decorations were a bit bland, but who really cares in a hotel room? If you want scenery, open up the wide window and take in the street scene immediately below!
// The breakfast buffet was much better than we had imagined, with a variety of breads, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, cereal, yoghurt, etc. You could easily skip lunch by eating a big breakfast here. // I believe they have some larger rooms (with double beds) in another section of the hotel, so you may want to request one of those if you really need a bigger room. // The front desk staff was very helpful, and I disagree with a previous posters comments that they were "indifferent." On several occasions they went out of their way to talk with us, to recommend things to do and see around Paris, and to even suggest the best bus to take to the Eiffel Tower. // The immediate area around the hotel offers many restaurant choices, from traditional French restaurants to a variety of ethnic choices. The prices tend to be reasonable (fixed-price menus from 14-25 euros, for example) and the food very good. The bottom of Rue Mouffetard offers an interesting food market nearly every day. // OK, so what the downside? The rooms are small and basic. The hotel lobby doesn't really offer much in the way of seating area, but you can spread out in the breakfast-area tables if you want and watch TV. Internet access is available in the lobby, but it's something like 9 euro for a half-hour (skip it and find something in town). Rue Mouffetard is a very active street until late in the night, and can be noisy at times. It's a fun area. Take earplugs!!!
But, no church bells nearby to wake you up early. // Location? Great for the Latin Quarter; you are right in the middle of things. We found the area to be very "homey," and looked forward to returning there each night for dinner. Very convenient to the Place Monge Metro stop (about two blocks/two minutes). A 10-15 minute walk to the Seine and Notre Dame. Five minutes or so to the Pantheon and Sorbonne. Coming from the airport, take the RER direct to Luxembourg Gardens, and then walk ten minutes to the hotel via back streets (unless you have lots of baggage, in which case you'll probably want to switch to the Metro and Place Monge stop). // We plan to stay there on our next visit to Paris.
The Perfect Location

Booked this 'blind' via Expedia but used TripAdvisor comments to help make final decision. Hotel is small, it's true, as was the room. But it had everything we needed, staff were all really helpful and welcoming, and the location couldn't be bettered - walking distance to pretty well anywhere. Spoilt for choice where to dine at night within staggering distance back! Would definitely go again!
Great location

Stayed here in mid September as apart of a great United Vacation package. I called before our flight to xconfirm reservations. On arrival they didn't have a room for our first night. They sent us to Hotel Demeure (great air conditioned hotel) by taxi. The next day we had to pay for our own taxi back to the Comfort Inn. Room were small and neat but the shower was moldy. English speaking staff. The day staff was indifferent but the evening crew was very helpful. Breakfast was included in our package but I won't pay for it. The best feature is the location. In a neighborhood close to markets, shops and cafes. One small block to Place Monge and walking distance to many sites. We had easy access to all of Paris.
Comfort Inn Mouffetard
from EuropTraveler
We spent 2 nites at the Comfort Inn Mouffetard in late Sept 2003. Our room was filthy: stained and matted carpet, mildew in shower stall. Room: quiet room on backside courtyard was quiet but tiny even for Paris. Desk staff: pleasant, esp mgr Christophe (?). Breakfast buffet was okay. Location: okay, a 15 minute uphill walk from blvd St Michel/Seine area. Near Mouffetard market; good connections to Metro & bus. This was part of a 3 night air/hotel package, but we left after 2 nites, repulsed by the dirty room. Hotel was fully booked/no room change possible. We stay in Paris 2-star hotels twice every year & we know many better options.
Nice little hotel with great location and good value

I stayed at the Comfort Inn Mouffetard in March 2003. Don't let the name put you off! It's a lovely little hotel with authentic Parisian flavour on a really great street (rue mouffetard- narrow, food shops, little hat&glove stores, market in the a.m.). All of the sights and sounds of the Latin Quarter are at your fingertips, with the Notre Dame about a 10-15 minute walk away, at a casual stroll. I stayed in the "attic" room complete with 2 floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the rooftops of the Latin Quarter, dormer windows and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! Of course, the room is small, but all parisian rooms are - go with it, it's part of the charm. Loads of hot water in shower and very clean. Quiet, very pleasant and helpful staff (yes, for those of you who don't speak French, the speak English). A hair dryer is advertised as being part of the room but there wasn't one. Maybe you have to ask for it (I had my own). Very close to Metro Place Monge. My only criticism would be the ridiculously over-priced breakfast. At 15 euros for your bog-standard continental breakfast, this is highway robbery. Go down the street about 4 doors and have a cafe creme & croissant for under 4euros. I take offence to the price because most hotels offer this continental breakfast for 6-8 euros. I would definately stay here again.
Lot of action on the street outside
from coolq
Went March 2002 going again March 2004 and will stay there again. It is small one person at time will have to ride the elevator with two small suit cases, but It's close to everything. The market is happening outside. Don't be a typical american with those large suit cases. Take the small one. Clean, comfortable, and fun. Whose gonna be in their room anyway. Nice place to sleep and take your shower and enjoy the sites.
Would stay there again

The rooms are surprisingly comfortable and well-equipped even though they are smaller than you would even imagine. The hotel is located in a charming part of Paris and conveniently close to many restaurant options and a subway station. I found the staff to be warm and helpful.
One con was that it was very noisy on the street outside with people enjoying the summer nightlife. Overall, it's a good place to stay if you are in Paris to explore and enjoy the city.
Good base camp

Rooms are small but adequate. Breakfast is buffet, all you can eat. Staff are professional if indifferent. Best thing about this hotel is its location in the Rue Mouffetard neighborhood near La Place Contrascarpe. Great for those who go to Paris to see Paris, not a hotel. I've stayed several times.
