Still in a hotel Comfort Mayfair in Copenhagen as obv. finding accomodation not so easy til you get your bearings - so as I said we are near Red Light District which is fun to venture through & go to 'Spunk bar' (Spunk is a danish sweet!) & is a 'normal' bar for that neighbourhood - but at least we have a suite now for same price as an ordinary room (which was decent of the hotel) as we will be staying for a month in total here. The majority of hotels are based around there which a bit strang...
Copenhagen, Denmark danskgirlThey are great for the ole festivals here, this is the 2nd film fest. since we been here and if you know me you'll know I overdose in film festivals & then don't go to the cinema for 2 years. So anyway the CIFF was on the last 2 weeks of Sept. 06. Am big into Finland now as have seen a great Finnish/Swedish movie called 'Mother of mine', about the 70,000 Finnish kids sent to Sweden in WWII for safe keeping. Human Interest kind of thing - I wouldn't say there was a dry eye on the house. Then c...
Copenhagen, Denmark danskgirlApparently there is big house in Nørrebro (our neighbourhood) that's a youth collective (called Ungdomshuset) & is let out to students - but it's prime real estate & was sold to someone a few years ago who now wants to renovate & use it for something else, so the students have been given notice to leave. Naturally being students they protested (peacefully) on the Saturday of the last weekend of Sept. & that was all fine - but apparently one has to tell the cops 1st if one is protesting so the...
Copenhagen, Denmark danskgirlWell I think we managed to make the most of our latest visitors 20 and 21 TnA's 48 hours - in terms of hanging out together & letting them see the place a bit - they flew into Malmo & arrived in Cph around 4:30pm Thurs so C met them & I was home about 6 & then we went to Spiseloppen in Christiana for dinner at 8 as I thought it'd be their scene (& they loved it) & then woodstock bar and then a few beers at home but the girls retired early enough (well I had a 9am meeting to get up for), then ...

... we have to do for the next few weeks, but I also knew that anything remotely resembling personal space or free time was about to go flying out the window.
The first few days in the hostel were a constant stream of amazing CYD’ers trickling in, reunions, cozy fires, exploring our industrial surroundings, and basically watching our common area shrink and shrink and shrink. It’s so amazing to have everyone together and ready to ...
... over to the small footpath on the other side of the duckpond, little pepples pouring over and into the sides of my shoes as I went. But - as I crossed the border out of park and into beloved, recognizable city I realized something. 2 days ago, when I got lost in a park for the second time, I finally found the city again by leaving a path that I now saw about fifty feet further down. Damn it! It was the ...
Lund, Sweden caroline.sage... the Danish students in my group about their views on the political and social aspects of Denmark. There aren't any Danish students living in my building, but I have met some in my classes. Later, the school organized an International Dinner. We weren't going to go, but it ended up being so much fun. A friend and I made red white and blue fruit salad (it was the 4th of July!). There was so much great food! The desserts were especially good. On Friday, some of us went to ...
Copenhagen, Denmark lizr88... pretty clear to me that the PIN on my credit card wasn't working which is a BIG issue as it is going to be my main source for withdrawing money. Anyhow, it was a good game. I didn't think the fans were as passionate as the ones in Newcastle. I saw 3 games in Newcastle and the fans there are a lot more vocal than the ones cheering for FC Copenhagen. STill very good fans. In case you care, FC Copenhagen tied the team they were ...
Copenhagen, Denmark dinovagabond... both locals and tourists. The street itself, as it is basically a street, is lined with many small bars and restaurants facing out to a picturesque harbour. In warmer weather, as it was on this evening, people fill every available table in the outdoors seating area in front of every restaurant. And they say that even in cooler weather the heartier types sit outdoors with a beer and a blanket, provided by the restaurant on each seat, over their legs. And they also say that ...
København, Denmark the_wayfarer... the street. I figured "Eh, what the hey, I need some good amusement right about now", and went inside. Tivoli is by no means the best amusement park I have ever been to, but when you can just forget about where you are, and what you're doing, and where you're going and just be a kid agin, it is marvelous. It was rather expensive to buy the ticket for the rides, but worth it. First I went on this ride that raises you extrememly high on ...
