... they were everywhere and it is the end of the "season" so not sure how anyone moves about at all in the summer. We strolled around enjoying the hustle and bustle observing the usual tourist souvenir stalls next to shops of exquisite blown glass and stylish clothes that every Italian we saw was wearing. On the stairs, shade was provided by the canopies of two of the ever-present olive trees scattered throughout the estate and after passing a 15-odd metre tall pencil pine (Cupressus sempervirens) we reached the front terrace and I was caught overlooking the magnificent Mediterranean hills and valleys spanning from Grasse across to the coast.

... A stroll round the old part of town and lovely views was timed perfectly as the sun came out. Time for a dip in the pool and Piperade (omelette with peppers, onions etc) courtesy of chef Andy for dinner. This is the life! Loving the Intermarche supermarket which blows Farro and Nosh out of the water for choice - a whole row just of anchovies (Matt was amazed) let alone the yummy cheeses to choose from - and a fraction of the price we'd pay in NZ! ...

... expensive yachts cleaned them up. We also saw several classes leave from the yacht club. They will have one boat that will pull a tethered line of 10-12 sailboats out into the middle of the harbor, and then let them loose. Some were definitely better than others. After lunch, the other couple was going to get ready and head to the casino. I stayed on the ship. You have to be dressed up to go to the casino, and it’s chilly and rainy.
