After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjonWe were so excited to have another person travelling with us, that our time spent with Diane was mostly fighting over her for her attention and trying to get her to side with one of us. She was definitely a good friend to both of us ( and didnt favor me, which I thought she should have ...
Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... so we entered and relinquished our 10 Euro entry fee to enter the infamous Monte-Carlo casino only to relinquish several more euros once inside. Before leaving, we took a few minutes to appreciate the artwork and interior of the casino. For us, it felt like we were in a scene of Casino Royale with James Bond! I kept looking for Daniel Craig.

Our dinner reservations at Sabatini's was 8:30pm. The ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... the various views which had been completed by the many impressionist and expressionist artists who used to hang around Cagnes - it was a nice touch.

The bourg itself is great - a real maze of narrow streets and stepped ginnels that gives a good idea of how many medieval towns might have been. There were some splendid and very cool cats, who owned a particular square just below the castle, and we also entered a semi-subterranean church ...
Cagnes-sur-Mer, Provence, France saracengill... Mer and found a really nice square with a few outdoor restaurants, a terrific view of the countryside, men playing boule and arguing over the finer points, and children playing and laughing. We had a nice Italian/French meal as is so frequently found around here. We left for home early because we are planning to go wine tasting early tomorrow!
Cagnes-sur-Mer, Provence, France denisandlynnae... Monaco' - overlooking the harbour. Walked the track and then Ness and Graham went round it in Ferraris. Ate out in the evening at the Racasse (or famous Ferrari parking space...M Schumacher!) - Spent the next morning catching up on the tan at the swimming pool then found a nice bar to watch the British GP. A perfect sunday me thinks. Spent the next few days doing a bit of sightseeing - Vence, St Paul de Vence ...
